Your not wrong about the pads, turns out that Floyd Sr was not able to do southpaw pads for the Pacquiao fight,,,what a disgrace... Still, the out come wouldn't have been much different.
Yeah crazy when you think about it. He left billy cause he couldn,t do the pads only to pick someone else that couldn,t do southpaw pads. I think was it lee beard actually ended up doing the southpaw pads for him for that camp behind mayweather seniors back. Odd one. Had a good performance for the mallinaggi fight. Mayweather got him fit tbf showed him a few tricks but at that point he was never gonna fully master them. Think ricky said a lot of the problem was with billy they,d always do a hard days training then an easier one the next day to recover...with mayweather everyday was hard....ended up burnt out for the pacman fight. Pretty clear something was going on. Think he ignored senior in the corner preferring to listen to lee beard at one point. Still think they should have got someone world class in as trainer to work under billy. Who would do it tho plus its a nightmare to get it to work still better than trying to completely change his style at 30 plus year old.
Well the best for Rickys style was in Mannys corner, Roach would have been perfect for ricky or Able ? I always liked Ingle in UK & not to far away for rRcky as he is very family based at the time...
The worst one has to be Miguel Cotto and Evangelista Cotto.. They got into a fight, Cotto ended up getting cut above his eye, and his uncle [Evangelista] allegedly through a brick at Miguel Cotto but missed him and ended up shattering Cotto's car window. Ya'll remember?
George Benton famously walked out on Leon Spinks in the middle of the second Ali fight. Atlas famously pulled a gun on Tyson. Christ, I don't even remember who it was, but Steward told someone while on camera "I don't know who ever told you that you were a fighter..."
I remember hitman saying he only needed 8 weeks to prepare, Sr gave him ten, overtrained. As he entered the fight he was looking for the ko but punches later he was laying on the deck. He knew he had to go for the ko because he overtrained. I really hated it when roach said "for a guy that great he wasn't that good" I'm sure the rest of the majority of people were just concerned whether or not Ricky was ok or even alright at the time.
Roach has a very spiteful streak in him, can be subtly quite nasty. I can see why he's had physical confrontations
