I can see this would sense if Fury wants to make sure after beating Wilder for a 3rd time, that he can face AJ in a 2 fight deal.

No one wants to see Fury- Whyte, everyone wants to see Fury AJ to see who is the big boss man at HW.

Not sure dropping the WBC belt is a good thing as it’s a very prestigious belt and the purpose of AJ fight is to unify all the belts.

I agree. Fury vs Whyte would still be a good fight before we can get Fury AJ. And Whyte has earned his shot, even though I don't like him much

I actually kinda-sorta predicted this, although I thought he would give it up to fight Joshua instead of Wilder, whereas he is talking about giving it up to fight Wilder instead of Whyte.

Fury still thinks Wilder is big money, but I still think there is a good chance the fight will be cancelled because they will not get any buys. I just had a thread which shows that the boxing community would actually much rather see the Whyte fight, by almost three to one, so economic reality could change the man's mind.

In any event, the bottom line is that there are too many fights. With Fury obligated to fight Wilder and Whyte, and Joshua with Pulev and Usyk, and with this virus preventing big fights, it might be two years or more before we get it all sorted out.

They'll make him a franchise champ and it will sort itself out.

Fury is crazy enough to do that, and honestly it will be in Dillian's favor. The WBC belt was dished to the garbage bin for way less than a mega HW fight

How much chance is there that we ever will have another undisputed HW champ?

Looks very unlikely. The 3 fight deal with Fury and Wilder screwed things up, more so than the bodybuilder losing to the blob last year.

    I would much rather see Fury-Whyte than Fury-Wilder 3.

    What's the obsession with undisputed?

Lineal is effectively the same thing, but it's better as mandatories and sanctioning fees aren't involved.

Only sadisits want to see Fury Whyte

It would be worse than Fury Chisora 2

Whyte gets waved off late by the ref for sure.

Flat footed, likes to hold his range. No chance.

The winner of Fury and Joshua will be undisputed in the fans eyes and that's all that should matter. The sooner the fans and boxers stop recognizing these bogus belts the better off boxing will be.

Agreed. Whoever wins that fight will be the man at HW

No it isn't!!!! Certainly being able to (cherry) pick whoever you want to fight, ducking the best opponents out there.
Was Briggs the man at HW when Lennox and Holy held all the belts?
Was Spinks the man at HW when Tyson held all the belts?
Was Cotto the man at MW when he ducked Golovkin who held all the belts minus the vacant WBC, but even had the WBC interim?
Is that all equal or better according to you?!
