At the moment a Fighter would be foolish not to go with Hearns if given the chance. They move lads on quickly, pay them well and are very big on after care. As a Chartered Accountant, Barry has set up pension funds for every Fighter he managed. If you work for them and wind up broke it's pretty much your own fault. In the 50's and 60's there was a Midlands based Manager called George Biddles, a Bookie from Leicester. All his main event Fighters, Wally Swift, Johnny Prescott, Jack Bodell and Bunny Johnson earned well and mostly retired comfortably. Swift and Prescott had Bookie's shops and George showed them the ropes. He was always keen to advise his Fighters financially even after they had retired. He was a genuinely caring guy. Biddles' greatest feat was getting in and out Heavyweight Richard Dunn a shot at Muhammad Ali's World Heavyweight Title.
Frank Espinoza. He sticks with his guys through thick and thin and I've heard all of them praise him to the hilt for being honest and always fighting to get them the money they deserve. Evidently he's a well to do businessman in the LA area who managers fighters because he has a passion for the sport. Because he's in boxing for the love of it instead of trying to take over the sport, it makes him a lot less likely to rip guys off. He's best known for being inseparable with Israel Vasquez but he also worked with Abner Mares and Oscar Valdez. Probably a few others.
I agree with this, however Steward could afford to let a finished guy go, as there was a line of others waiting to work with him.
I knew Wally Swift and have met Johnny Prescott, Jack Bodell and Bunny Johnson. They all spoke about what a good manager Biddles was. Prescott didn't fall out with him over money. Richard Dunn has never said a bad word about him either. Don't really know what point you're trying to make here Mac.
