Saw a post about Adrien Broner being made on a boxing Facebook page today, and the majority of people called him overhyped, trash etc and made fun of him. Is this because he sucks or is it because he talks too much trash?

I did some research on him
    -champion in 4 weight classes
    -33 wins
-I don't recognise too many names on his boxing record (I am a casual fan)
-Read that Marcos Maidana kicked his ass, and Pacquiao too (I watched that one)

Is he elite? ATG? Tomato can? Average?

    He doesn't "suck"
He was overhyped as the next coming of Floyd Mayweather, when he was really the next coming of Zab Judah.

Talented fighter, who comes up short against elite guys.

B level guy who can pick up world titles when matched well, and draws money because hes a personality that people want to see beaten.

Broner is wasted talent. He's tough, durable, pretty hard to hit, and he's got excellent speed and power. Mentally, he's just not widdit.

He was a B level fighter on his absolute best day. He's had at least 5 iffy decision wins against fairly beatable opposition. He's just not very good and if you couple that with his despicable behavior he's even less good. I paid a rather large amount of money for floor seats to watch him fight Mikey Garcia and he was absolutely dreadful. He won't throw punches, he's extremely oversensitive to feints, he's just awful and I highly doubt the boxing world needs or misses him.

Bull**** what talent? He has 4 very one sided losses. Then complete gifts against Malignaggi, Quintero, Ponce de Leon, Grenados, and Vargas. I also feel that he loss to Taylor but I suppose that one is actually debatable. The guy is very average against world level opposition.

He tried to be a carbon copy of FlIVd and failed miserably. Talent to be world class was there but hes also a headcase.

His speed and power are natural talents. Hurt Maidana and Mikey in the final rounds and dropped Porter. If he opened up his offense more, he could be a force.

Pretty good fighter at his peak just didn't have the right mindset. He gets sold pretty short around here because he's not a likeable person but if we are judging purely on merits he deserves alot more respect then what he gets

A pretty good fighter does not win a controversial decision against Malignaggi, nor the many others for that matter. He should have at least 2-5 more losses on his record.

He was a physically gifted guy (at his lower weight) who was unfocused, lazy, undedicated to his craft and ate his way out of his proper weight class. Broner should've never competed higher than LW, at SFW and LW he was a potential h2h terror with alot of people.

Great chin, good power, very good with straight shots and counter shots. He's really a waste of talent and the death knell for him was people calling him the next Floyd and him believing the hype.

    Very gifted...

As in received quite a number of gifts like decisions he didn't deserve, gifted 2 vacant belts against total nobodies, and big fights he didn't deserve to be in.
Clearly a case of you can be a multi division beltholder and big earner if you are reasonably talented and have the right people behind you.
He definitely wasn't a bad boxer, and quite tough actually, but completely overhyped and one of the most obnoxious boxers to ever (dis)grace the sport.
