he had to fight cotto cuz cotto earned a shot at his titles. thats all. now that he retired he just needs to fight dougnuts
You argument sucks bro its plain and simple, boxing is a mans sport and PBF needs to man up. **** I like Cotto but if he retired after defeating Margarito I would hate the guy just because... this is boxing bro not a Disney ****ing fairytale were everything has a good ending.
i Know floyd is the best out there and doesnt need to prove himself anymore, but i still think he has a lot to offer to the sport of boxing
YOUR argument is no argument. First of all boxing is a business first and foremost and considering you've more than likely NEVER have been in the ring (yes I have) I don't expect you to understand it. Floyd haters, please post an intelligent INFORMED response to these questions or ridge your saddles home. 1. When has there ever been an actual offer for Floyd vs. Cotto for anyone to insinuate he's ducking Cotto?? None will be your response so moving on. 2. Most importantly, considering Floyd paid $750K to get out of his contract with Bob Arum after the Judah fight in '06 and there are still very hostile feelings on both sides now.. How will negotiations go or most importantly do you think that when/if FLoyd wins, he's going to DARE give Arum any OPTIONS for future fights which is the standard in this situation?? MInd you Floyd is on record stating that he's earned more in his fights with Baldomir(10 million), DLH(25+ million) than he did with all the fights with Arum and ARUM acknolwedges this by the way. With those things there, how do you suppose this fight gets made? They should just slug it out because thats what "men" do right?? (smirk)..
He did have a belt....after the Baldomir fight Don King convinced one organization to let Zab keep the belt since Baldomir only paid the sanctioning fee for the WBC strap people forget that Floyd is a multiple champion at welterweight he vacated the belt because he didn't feel the need for a rematch with Judah.
If he's retired, he does not have to fight anyone. Boxing is completely optional/dangerous and everybody has the absolute right to retire without receiving any criticism. But if he wants to be considered the best welterweight, and NOT be retired, he should fight the best other welterweight(s). That's the way ALL the greats in history have done it. PBF has skipped a few top fighters he could have matched up with. He fought Judah after Judah lost to a very limited fighter. Then he beat that same limited fighter. Then he beat DLH, who is a part time fighter. How long do you think Hatton would last against Cotto? Ali, Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Hagler all matched up with all the available top fighters of their day. Those guys are ATG's.
Just stfu will you? Why did SRL have to fight hearns? Why does any fighter have to fight the best? **** Floyd. His sham is that perfect record crafted by avoiding some or all of the toughest opposition in every weight class. You can paper the walls with titles and "accomplishments" which are completely overblown by the circumstances of his time. Course, nut sucking, pom-pom waving, high jump screaming, fake ass groupie PBF fans wont ever stand and deal with the reality, but unless Floyd himself actually PROVES his greatness as every other TRUE ATG has? It wont really be REALITY. :good
He should fight Cotto because they're the two best fighters in the weight class, and two top P4P fighters. That's it, that's all that is needed for it to be an important fight.
If PBF wants to be considered one of the best ATGs then he needs to put his legacy, incredible skills and will to the test versus the best possible fighters. That's what Sugar Ray Leonard did and that's what Muhammad Ali did ! That's why they are amongst the top ATGs.. If it's Cotto the best out there, then PBF should fight Cotto, if it's someone else then he should fight someone else !
Judah had lost to Baldomir but he still had the IBF strap which was later vacated by PBF. He vacated 6 world titles, 3-lineal titles ... beat 15 world champions ... 7 of them were champions at the time they fought PBF and he's had 19 world title fights with 0 losses and 0 draws w/ 9 KO's.
Makes sense and a great explaination ... nothing about balls or legacy but because it makes sense match up wise and they're the two best in the division and amoung the p4p best. Great post !! No hating, no bias, no bull**** reason ... :good
