In the 70's / 80's in Australian boxing (when men were men, boys were scared, and 'regulation' wasn't a word), there was a little known concoction called champagne, which was a blend of chemicals including ammonia (like smelling salts) which would invigorate a corpse.

I've smelt it, and the feeling it caused from a whiff felt like having a red hot knife forced up through your nose into your brain. Smelling salts were subtle by comparison (they're illegal too now during fight). I always felt that Pryor got some champagne or some 'local' variant. Could it have included a cocoa-derived stimulant?

I know the Australian concoction didn't, but recipes are easily changed according to the chef's taste and available ingredients. Its possible, but it wouldn't have been necessary.
