Pryor was perpetual motion,, Wilfred will make him look bad but Pryor's volume should win the day

Yeah i think Benitez is a bit fradge/underdone at 140 and would actually favor Pryor in this one.

Wilfred Benitez beat a prime Antonio Kid Pambele Cervantes on March 6 1976, at age 17, by a split 15 round decision to win the WBA Junior Welterweight Title. Pryor stopped Cervantes to win that same title in 1980, but Cervantes was well past his prime.

    Benitez outclasses Pryor.

He beat a FAR fresher and closer to prime version of Kid Pambele than Pryor beat.

Benitez' limited offense cost him against Leonard and Hearns and I think it costs him here too. Pryor's aggression and volume wins the day.

I think Aaron would chase him all over the ring Wilfred was great, master boxer. But Pryer would be just too much for him. Speed, power, fast on his feet.

I think Benitez by decision on this one. He was underrated. Some of the quickest handed guys in boxing went 15 rounds with him Hearns and Leonard, and he beat Duran relatively easily. I think he would outbox Pryor. He would sit there in front of Pryor. Pryor did have good speed and activity, but Benitez could neutralize that.

I like the "Hawk" over the "The Bible of boxing" in this one. As others have said the sheer volume of punches Pryor was capable of, plus Benitez not hitting hard enough to make Pryor respect him would keep Benitez on the defensive most of the fight.
Plus the crazy angles Pryor could land from and his hand and foot speed and superhuman endurance would keep Benitez from mounting any real offense.
"Hawk Time" over 12 or 15rds. He'd simply out work Benitez.

would be a great fight though. but I can't help but imaging Wilfred just backpeddling al night long, being chased. Even if he did very well, I don't think the judges would give it to him

    Interesting matchup.
I would favor Benetiz as he was a very good defensive fighter who i feel would frustrate Pryor.

Wilfred Benitez beat a better version of Antonio Kid Pambele Cervantes at the tender age of 17, on March 6 1976 to claim the WBA Junior Welterweight Title on points. Aaron Pryor destroyed Cervantes to claim the same belt on Aug 2 1980, in round 2, despite being decked by Antonio. I see Benitez doing the same to The Hawk, making this a very frustrating evening for Aaron, as many other before tried the aggressive approach, but it failed. Benitez makes people miss, and in this thread I am talking about a 17 year old champion, not the fighter that fought Palomino, Leonard, Duran, or Hearns. I think that Wilfred takes this one like he did against Kid Pambele, a split decision.

This would be a repeat of Duran vs Benevitez. Wilfred has a top 5 boxing iq with stellar footwork, and all-time great defense. He was also a stellar counter-puncher.

To add to that it should have been a unanimous decision as Benitez won comfortably.

Pryor is nothing like Cervantes tho. I post all the time that he is overrated but i do like him in this one. Pryor would throw that much i don't think Benitez's would get off enough effective counters. Pryor is a tough ask for a 17yo no matter how good they are imo.

I'm not totally adverse to a Benitez decision but favor Pryor, for once, personally.
