P4p Cotto is more skilled than ggg only advantage ggg has is that he's naturally bigger.

Gggs resume has nothing to do with canelos resume. Gggs opposition sucked and it's not even debatable.

Why do supposedly knowledgeable posters even respond to posts like that? The idiots (And they are pretty obvious on the board) speak only for themselves. People give posters like that too much credit when they are really just newbie trolls...

Golovkin claimed for many years that he would be willing to fight anyone between 154-168. He proved that he was not serious. In fact he proved that he was only interested in fighting quality fighters only if it came with a huge paycheck.

Many top elite fighters between 154-168 have called out Golovkin on multiple occasions, but they didn't bring enough immediate financial reward to have Golovkin even consider them.

Elite fighters who expressed a willingness to call GGG's 154-168 bluff, range from Lara, Andrade, Trout, Ward, and Gilberto Ramirez to name a few.

Instead Golovkin was more interested in chasing older fighters, some compromised and on their way out of the game like Felix Sturm, Sergio Martinez, and Miguel Cotto. Note for the new fans, when discussing age in boxing ring age has to be considered.

Even when presented the opportunity to unify or keep his belts he passed it up because he lacked the confidence to surely beat BJ Saunders and Sergey Derevyanchenko, and even his fans accepted that he did so because the risk of losing was too great.

So while GGG was chasing older fighters for their money, and ignoring younger top fighters who were calling his 154-168 bluff that would have enhanced his legacy, he himself got older and wasted his opportunity to solidify himself as a true ATG!

He seems to have had the skills, talent, amd financial backing (HBO) to carvbe out a better legacy, but he lacked something, could have been self belief, could have been bad management, could have been a combination of both.

I agree, but there was a vocal minority that parroted that idiocy for the longest time.

So all you have is some Twitter call outs and no actual negotiations?

And chasing older fighters? You mean THE champions in his own division? How are you giving him **** for that? It´s exactly what he was supposed to do. Had Golovkin changed divisions, you and many others would say he did so to duck A,B or C at 160.

And hey, he even fought Sergiy, just not on short notice.

If all you have is the "anyone from 154 to 168" quote, then that's a rather thing argument. Not really an argument at all. Did anyone start any kind of negotiations? Or was Golovkin supposed to do so?

It boggles my mind why people have problems with someone staying in one division, trying to prove that they are the best there.

Once upon a time, people respected those who can stick to one division. Now we live in a boxing world where one MUST move up to somehow prove greatness, according to newer to boxing fans. But now, trying to unify a division is looked at as a negative to certain posters.

But that's ASSOL for you... going to stick to some silly statement like it was an open contract signing to anyone

He could of been a great but marinated at MW far too long only to be a stepping stone for Canelo Alvarez.

Let's all be honest, bias aside he never wanted to be great or fight the hard fights, it was all about the money for him, to think otherwise is extremely naive.

I'm hearing how people think other boxers ducked him yet he was stuck with K2 promotions for the majority of his "prime" and didn't have any leverage when it came to making the big fights. This is why I'm still baffled that he wanted the lions share for Andre Ward, they both sold similar ppv's and were both staples of HBO boxing at the time, he obviously never truly wanted the fight in the first place. It was a complete DUCK by GGG and his management, he could of proved to the world that he's a great fighter but instead picked the easiest route possible and fought Dominic Wade instead, only to be defeated by Canelo Alvarez years later in what was supposed to be a career defining fight for him.

I don't rate Canelo Alvarez that highly in boxing history and GGG is even less a fighter than he is. Overrated is an understatement, his legacy is just a mere stepping stone to another fighter who is overrated himself.

Ah the old "wait till he's signed a fight and then call him out" trick.

They were the top fighters at the time when he wanted to fight them. KInd of hard to understand for some people.

BECAUSE HE WAS TRYING TO FIGHT CANELO YOU DIMWIT.

Unless you think Sergiy and Saunders >> Canelo, please sit TF down.

You're so far up Golovkin's ass you don't see the GGGoon double standard.

The reason Cotto, Martinez, and Canelo did not fight or immediately fight GGG is the exact same reason did not fight Ward, Saunders, or Derevyanchenko when he was ordered.... They were at the tail end of their careers and were fighting for the biggest money fights. But to the GGGoon only GGG is justified in doing that, right?

If GGG was having a diifuclt time securing the big fights against the popular fighters because they were al cashing out before retirement who's fault is it that GGG didn't just go for the next best options to create a very good legacy?? Golovkin's.

Fighters like Andrade, Trout, Lara do not have the financial value to dictate, or commence negotiations, they arer the B side, all they can do is call out the A side and hope they bite, just the way Lara got the fight with Canelo. Lara and Canelo were the 1 and 2 guy at 154 and they made a fight regardless of the high risk/low reward against Canelo's favor. If GGG truly cared about legacy he would have done as Canelo did when he was talking about "anyone between 154-168"... Wy is it that GGG would constantly claim he would fight anyone between 154-168 but when opportunity came knocking to call his bluff he wouldn't answer?

Funny how GGG is one of the very few fighters I have ever seen fans excuse his lack of ambition.

ASSOL has no qualms about lying either. Busted him and called him out many times. ASSOL is the type to focus on what HATERS say just so he can talk about GGGoons..

Lara, Trout and Andrade have always called out GGG, the press just doesn't put emphasis because GGG is the Hype machine "investment". They've called GGGs bluff year after year.

In 2015 Ward's team sent an offer for 50/50 for a fight in 2016, GGG has no fights scheduled for 2016, yet still declined it immediately.

Of course they were top fighters. And they were fighting each other, making the most money they could right before they retired. Same exact reason GGG fans give him a pass for avoiding Saunders, Charlo, Andrade, and getingt stripped for not fighting Dchenko (he only wants the big money fights and doesn't want to risk losing).

How are you going to have two sets of rules depending on the fighter?

Wasn't Martinez and Cotto trying to fight each other and fight Canelo too?? LMAO!! Do you see the double standard?

I see Golovkin waste his prime chasing a fighters. I see Golovkin claim no one wanted to fight him but had a line of fighters hoping GGG would choose them, I see GGGoons attacking fighters for doing the exact same thing they give GGG a pass, from avoiding mandatories to getting stripped to avoiding challenges all in the name of money.. But, but when GGG does it its okay.. LMAO!
