He was? Ranked for beating Bob Cleroux? He was 9-5-3 going into that fight? Are you sure Joiner got ranked for that win?

I don't recall any of the others being ranked. Rahman Ali?

None of those guys I asked you about were ranked.

I could've added a bunch of names of random journeymen, too.

    Donovan Dennis! See.

Yes, Donovan Dennis never received a title shot. But it's not like he was ever in line or mentioned for one.

I missed all the talk of a Rahman Ali title fight. Fill us in.

Please do. I'd be particularly interested in when Joe Alexander and Rahman Ali were ever fixtures in the title picture.

Elijah McCall ... never got a title shot.

did you see number #5. now thats really ex-champ Sonny Liston and he is rated. NOW HE SPARRED WITH JOE ALEXANDER! he's actually relative . but he does not count in the thread because he was a world champion and therfore disqualified for the thread.

Heavyweights Who Never Received World Title Shot
    is the thread

Heavyweights Who were ranked OR Never Received a World Title Shot

    Ronnie,

99.99% of all heavyweights never get a title shot. The point is to discuss people who were relevent who never got a shot.

Not just name people who got a boxing license and were heavyweights.

    Rahman Ali? Joe Alexander?

Joey Dawejko spars with people. Joey Dawejko supposedly knocked out Anthony Joshua in sparring before the Ruiz fight.

But nobody brought him up ... because he isn't relevent. See how that works?

Neither are Rahman Ali, Scrap Iron Johnson, Billy Joiner, Terry Krueger, Jack O'Halloran, etc.

Sam Langford and Harry Wills is the correct answer.

Both spent 5-7 years being in line for a title shot that never arrived.

Sam Langford from the Klondike fight right up until he was blinded by Fred Fulton was the outstanding contender. Everyone he faced during this period he beat, almost exclusively by knockout. 1909-1917. Almost the whole time he was the number 1 contender.

Harry Wills from 1918 to 1926 only lost once by DQ. He had knocked out the afore mentioned Sam Langford, and spent the next 8 years beating everyone in the division.

There almost a 20 year period when these two were one of the best HW fighters in the world, yet they didn't get a single title shot.

    Disgraceful.

FO Triple chin you are a true web warrior, my condolences!
I NEVER GAVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU OR YOUR BS
READ THE STARTING OF THE THREAD , IF YOU CAN!

I repeat, only include heavies who never actually challenged for the crown in a world title bout, this isn't comprehensive of the best to never win a heavyweight belt; rather, it's only inclusive of those who never got the chance to fight for one. Heavies only .

PS-does it say anything about relative, or a GD LICENSE Or your a 100.0 % idiot ?
NOT YOUR FREAKIN POST TO BEGIN WITH (AS USUAL)

    That's funny.

I always get Evangelista and Jerry Quarry confused. (LOL) It's common. Both got owned by Lorenzo Zanon.

Just kidding. What's your take on Rahman Ali and Joe Alexander?

I almost forgot, Malik Scott never got a shot but beat Leapai, Glazkov, and Thompson. He probably could've beaten some of the lesser titlists.

    GOOD ONES MIKE
Leotis was 5-2 against an extremely tough top ten.
