    • Prime for prime Fury v Jeffries 15rds 1950s referee,and gloves 20 foot ring.
    • I stopped making threads,but I'm feeling rather mischievious this morning .
    • Jeffries 6foot ,218lbs, reach 761/2" v Fury 6foot nine, 270lbs, reach 85"
    • What's the outcome of this?

    Oh no....

    Jeff is slapped around and clowned on until it is stopped or a landslide decision.

    Jeff has no business in the ring with Fury. None.

    Fury never receives a threatening punch the whole fight.

    All depends on the effect Jeffries body shots would have on Fury. It's either Fury outboxing Jeffries for clear decision or Jeffries outworking Fury in late rounds.

    What's the point of reference we use here?

    There's very grainy footage of the Ruhlin fight with a dramatically reduced frame rate.

    On that film he looks like some who jabs and grabs and works the body up close.

    In paper that seems tbe kind of style needed to beat Fury as I can't see him being out boxed.

    For me it comes down to who's stronger in the clinch.

    Can Jeffries force him back and make room for those body shots?

    Would Jeffries even fight the same way?

    Really hard to call but I'm taking Fury to get the job done.

    Jeffries didn't care about attacking the head, he mostly went to the body. It doesn't mean that he couldn't mix it up:

    Ruhlin tried to use his reach advantage but it didn't help him much.

    Speed seems to be the biggest thing for getting to Fury, how much Jeffries had at his best is basically impossible to asses.

    Fury is much better than Wilder, but style wise I think this suits Jeffries more

    I really ike this kind of post, because this is the way I consider hypothetical match ups when the eras are so far apart. Make the rules, ring, refs, etc a halfway house between the two eras. As for the result...

    I'll say it's a mauling kind of affair, an awful fight to watch, some blood and dirty play, and Fury wins a decision.

    Jeffries lack of guard would pay dividends. I think Fury would land at will and grind Jeffries down to a late stoppage or a relatively one sided beat down decision

    I thought Ruhlin out boxed Jeffries for the first 2 rounds and so did those ringside.Bear in mind Fitz had absolutely destroyed Gus earlier.

    Ruhlin had 2 inches reach advantage on Jeffries, Fury has 8 1/2inches.Jeff fought his fights on the assumption he would be the bigger and stronger man and in all of his fights he was.That would not be the case here.
    You have to wonder how many punches Jeff is going to be able to land on Fury's torso,bigger, faster men than Jeffries did not have much success in doing so.
    Fury outclassed Chisora ,a big strong pressure fighter,twice ,stopping him in the second fight.Is it reasonable to expect the smaller Jeffries to do appreciably better?

    This is legit argument, although Chisora is nothing special and he's not really bigger than Jeffries.
