Maybe but he telegraphed his punches so much hard to see him landing much of anything

What an absurd argument, i doubt that the defeat of spinks against Tyson looked equal than spoon "losing" against Holmes for example. You can lose against somebody but being at the same time a hard rival.
I am not saying that Foreman made a great fight because he fought dumb like hell he was overconfident but your argument makes no sense

Bert Sugar was a spinner of good stories & Tall Tales. He also was strongly biased towards the old timers.
He was the writerly version of George Foreman, affable & colorful. Except the latter credited newer fighters too.

And anyway in that video where he is interviewed about the hardest punchers, he mentions both Baer & Shavers...but says for my money, #1 is Earnie Shavers.

Baer definitely hit comprably hard to Shavers, but his problem here would be that he'd face much better version of Ali than Shavers did!

I respectably disagree. Max was a heavy hitter but not as much so as George. Foreman was bigger and stronger too.

True. Muhammad slipped quite a bit between the Foreman and Shavers fights.

A bit? 1974 Ali was much better than 77. 1977 Ali was a zombie

Well he said Primo Carnera >>>> Wlad Klitchsko. That lets me know he's very accurate

Ali made Foreman look really foolish (something probably nobody else would ever do), to the point that people still call him "a mummy" after watching Zaire. Then he knocked him out as the only fighter who ever did that to him. Foreman looked worse than ever in this fight and he dealt with depression after that.

I don't think that Baer would have done much worse. He'd not have any chances against Ali, but I can see it being boring fight after a few rounds when Baer would try to do something but would be countered and fooled to death. Then Baer wouldn't care anymore and lose clear decision. It wouldn't look differently than other Ali fights really.

Agreed. If we were to edit footage of Lennox Lewis to appear on black and white film, then show it to Bert he’d think he was watching the GOAT

By weight & height I agree with you. Baer had a huge bone structure like Foreman.
but look at that image & their fight. Foreman tended to weigh in dehydrated, infamously due to Saddler.
But looking at that image you posted, or any others of Baer, he did not have the muscular development of Foreman.

    Very true hahahah!
I only don't know about Baer because he was young and strong but even Baer said Jack eho beat Willard would beat him same way Louis did!
Also they used to spar and Baer said even an old Dempsey hit harder than Louis,Schmelling....
But also Dempsey claimed that no one hit him as hard as Baer in sparing where Baer smashed his right into his ribbons...he said that he was stronger and better than Firpo!
