He was a Jr. Middleweight that moved up. Your theories of where he belongs based on your clueless knowledge is irrelevant to me.
Daring to be great is all about taking risks. This guy took zero risks his entire career. He never ever dared to move up and challenge bigger guys and put his self in a situation where he's at a disadvantage. His entire management was based off making easy money without taking risks only to score a big free payday(or two) against smaller less risky opponents and then retire straight into the realm of irrelevance. That's exactly what they did and he's hardly worth mentioning today. I'm actually hearing he's interested in fighting Pacquiao... That's the hero you waste your time defending. On social media he's devouring heavyweights, but in reality he's lining up Welterweights.
His Light Heavyweight power wasn't apparent in his first step up in class against a smaller opponent. He ended up with a draw and a loss.
I think that sounds like a fare assessment except I think he beats Pavlik in a great fight, as for Pirog, I think he gets a too much credit for one impressive victory over an ill prepared Jacobs. After that fight he went 12 rounds with Ashida and had no other notable wins.
Personally think G is rated about where he should be, chin of granite plenty of power for his weight pressure fighter always makes a entertaining watch. Good skill set on the front foot think he's an excellent fighter myself
You love to lie. Didn't anybody teach your generation it's not good to lie? You know why he fought Brook, and that's because Eubank and his father were playing games, so Brook stepped in.
Ah, I think Freddy Roach mentioned it and the media ran with it. I haven't heard anything about GGG being interested.
There are chin levels and ones ability to roll with punches to consider. Kovalevs vaunted power as you like to say never showed up either against Canelo and he is a proven light heavyweight puncher. Golovkin did far more damage to Canelo than Kovalev did. Canelo had to walk thru fire and activate the his 3 judge insurance policy to come out with a victory. It pays to have a good insurance plan, it can protect you from great loss. Canelo doesnt just have a good insurance plan, he has great political connections as well, his crimes get swept under the rug.
I don't think Ward is bothered at all about Golovkin. He's retired with an undefeated record , has a lot of money in the bank and has a pretty decent carer as a pundit. Golovkins success cost him a loss and a draw. He'll have to fight into his 40's and probably take another loss to earn the money Dazn gave him. So i don't think Ward is jealous of Golovkin in the slightest.
Not according to the overwhelming majority who watched both fights. Well, there goes Marvin Haglers's ATG card then. And that bum Monzon, he hid out at 160, never daring to move up. On the thread question, I think the answer is BOTH. You get fools like Scar here, criticizing him for not moving up, as if that were indicative of his status as a Middleweight. At the other end, you got wide-eyed fanatics who see fantasy fights where he KO's light Heavyweights. His true rating is probably somewhere in the middle. He's the best MW of his era, the two dodgy Canelo results notwithstanding. He has good power and a good chin and while he's not great at cutting off the ring, he is a devastating finisher when his opponent is hurt. On the other hand, he doesn't have any great names on his resume, save for Canelo, and therefore it's hard to judge him against the bigger names at the weight. If you average his over-raters and under -raters, it comes out about right.
Ward did well. He fought excellent fighters in the super six tournament and beat them. Covered his a** before moving up to light heavyweight by calling out GGG at a inconvenient time. Getting a unbelievable gift decision win over Kovalev. Walking away with three belts he didn't deserve. He did great in the rematch although he was landing low blows. He got out before he had to prove himself against the rest of the light heavyweight division.
ATG middleweight. Bashed Canelo on the front foot then boxed him off the back foot at the age of 38. Record could do with more but H2H ATG no question
