It would be one thing if he was squeaking out points wins in his many title defenses, but he destroyed them in a way most champs could only dream of.

160 pound Jones Jr. runs through Golovkin's resume with more KO's, and would have done it throwing less punches.

OMG could you imagine Golovkin on anabolic steroids? They'd have international treaties regulating the use of his hooks.

Roy was amazing, but you think he could have stopped both Jacobs and Canelo? Golovkin stopped 18 in title defenses, only two went the distance and those are the two? He might have been able to stop Jacobs, maybe, not so sure about Canelo.

RJJ didn't like the incoming that much. The only chink in him (peds aside) is his average chin. Golovkin fought some big hitters in his time. RJJ probably handles them but if a guy like Jacobs gets you hurt, it could be the end.

160 pound Jones Jr. was significantly faster than Canelo. Think the Mayweather fight, but with someone 5'11, instead of 5'8, with longer arms, and faster hands, power in both hands. Jones Jr. would definitely stop Jacobs.

That twitter story, which is a copy/paste from a WWE segment for sure, only simpletons like you will believe. He fought him because he met their requirements. Zero risk against a blown up Welterweight.

I assure you he will come out from a grave to sign it if the contract is sent.

Is this another WWE segment you're giving me?. What is this insurance policy nonsense?. Do I need to be a Golovkin fan to comprehend?. It's very simple, his Titansteel X Twitter Certified power was nowhere to be found when he fought Alvarez in two fights. Alvarez didn't need judges to withstand his Mike Tyson + Earnie Shavers combined power and throw right back at him for 24 rounds.

You know what insurance policy I'm talking about. The Canelo wins if the fight goes to the cards policy. Its a nice plan. It helped Canelo win in fights vs Trout, Lara, and twice against GGG .Mike Tysons power was nowhere to be found against a blown up cruiserweight in Holyfield, you can use that logic anywhere.

The only nice plan here was successfully scored by Golovkin and his team. He got two free paydays against yet another smaller opponent even though he accomplished nothing but twitter barking to get it.

Haven’t gone through the whole thread but for me he falls on the scale of overrated especially from the die hards who claim he’s some atg that would destroy every fighter all time from 160-175 even though that has been proven false.

being honest with myself 160 has been very weak relative to other divisions for damn near a decade now in terms of greatness I’d probably rank it
    1.Canelo
    2.Martinez
    3.Golovkin
    From 2010-now
Canelo and Martinez I’d have to rank at the top because of their wins beating actual Champs for their titles both fighters beating the boogie man of their divisions (Williams/Chavez jr) for Marvella and (GGG) for Canelo
Martinez long reign as the legit Lineal Champ and THE MAN of the division until injuries took over and Canelo a fighter who may only have technically because of the title only fought 5 MW fights but in those 5 bouts, 4 were top 3 rated MW Champions he went 4-0-1 winning the Lineal, WBC 2x, WBA, & IBF titles at 160.
Golovkin I’d have to rank third because even those his overall resume is pretty trashy he’s beaten more bums then the rest of the guys ducking top champs so have to give him credit he does have 9 LEGITIMATE title defenses so being objective i feel that’s a fair ranking.

Head to head we saw Golovkin struggle with a career Jr MW in Canelo in his first 2 fights at 160,
And while injuries and the unexpected Cotto loss prevented a Marvella-GGG match up the fighter who had a disputed decision vs Williams that turned around and KO’d him in the rematch the same guy who damn near shut out Chavez in a masterclass would be all kinds of problems for Golovkin.

now just looking at him overall the guy underwhelmed as a competitor, I was a fan when he made his US debut the Stevens fight and the Knock out and his quote at the end of the fight, “I’m a bad boy, this is MY SHOW knock em down and knock em out”. Had me hooked and I thought he would be different from these all talk guys when he started with the 154-68 talk and that fighters were scared I bought into it. And then I saw Lara call him out and Trout, and Ward, saw Cotto offer him a catchweight, as well as Canelo and saw him balk even though all these fighters are vastly more accomplished than anybody he’s fought. Saw him almost lose who at the time was his best opponent in Jacobs over refusing to pay him a few extra dollars for the fight and lets be real jacobs is only thought of highly because he has an argument for beating or drawing with GGG because going into the fight he had struggled with and been dropped by the last 5/6 guys he’d fought outside of Quillin. The best guys he’s fought in Jacobs, Canelo, and I guess Dervy who again has done nothing going in but lose to Jacobs and is only considered a good fighter now because GGG arguably loss but in his 3 best opponents an argument can be made he lost in each fight. The guy has refused to move up in weight and is content fighting bums begging for a payday, at the end of the day while I’d say you have to respect him for doing a bit more to separate himself from guys like Quillin,Jacobs,Chavez at MW career wise that’s not really saying much but compared to the actual GREAT 160 fighters in SM and SA it’s a difference. Even in terms of style in the words of money may the kid is straight up and down no effects a decent power boxer but no real defensive great, nothing out of this word but his power vs not that great comp, defensively Martinez and Canelo are more fluid in their transitions evading and taking power off shoots even though Martinez was reckless at times.
Offensively as well both had a greater variety and arsenal Canelo has shown improvement in every fight for almost a decade which is impressive in its self his body punching and dynamic combination counter punching.
Martinez who was also a quality boxer a southpaw with power and an unorthodox style that was difficult to navigate. From style to legacy that’s just my breakdown on it but just one fans perspective.

GGG has been robbed and ducked. On ability, he's going to the boxing hall of fame.
