Got to give Lopez credit for doing what Mikey didn't have the cojones for

Mikey ducked Loma because he was the naturally bigger man and in his prime so there was no excuses for him to lose. If he lost, he would just have to own it. So he fought Spence a fight he could never win to avoid losing any prestige as a fighter. He was afraid of Loma schooling him so he took the easy way out.

Lopez took the fight though. So that is very encouraging.

I pick Loma to win a wide UD, but whatever happens, happens. Which is how boxing should be. **** it, it's a fight. So whatever happens in the ring happens.

Garcia is a clown. Loma schools him.

Can’t remember the last time someone who had such a lay-off was so entitled.

Garcia fought Spence at 147 who is more dangerous and bigger risk then Loma, makes no sense that Garcia was "afraid " of him..

When Loma and Lopez grow balls and go to 147 and fight the top fighter then we can talk.

Loma is way too small for 147, and FFS...let Teo fight and grow for a few years FFS. Why do you always post like some dumb snatch defending her boyfriend?

Still at a loss on why Mikey even decided to move up rather than facing Loma. That was supposed to be the biggest LW fight to be made at the time and he literally killed any chances of that fight being made now. He could have cashed out, take his L, and then move up.

Because it’s not just an “L” as you put it. Loma has made undefeated fighters commit the ultimate sin, Loma has made them do the thing you are never supposed to do as a fighter...quit. How many times have fighters quit in their corner against Loma? He breaks their spirit.

Garcia is a tough kid, he really is and people who have never laced them up are calling him all kinds of crazy stuff, which is total b.s. that goes with the territory, but Garcia would have rather lost to Spence, with all reasonable “moving up weight” excuses, than suffer the long term psychological damage that he isn’t good enough which will haunt his career.

    Please.

Where's the honor in going up to 147 and being bent over?? Garcia literally lost all 12 rounds in an embarrassing outing. He was outright chubby. Where's the honor in that?

Garcia was afraid of losing (probably lopsidedly) to a smaller man in Lomachenko.....so he went up to 147lbs and wasted everyone's time. Not a single round.

Mikey took that fight because he it came with a built in excuse for when he lost. He can always say that Spence was too big and that was his 5 weight class. He was afraid of being embarrassed by Loma simple and plain. I actually thought that at 135 Mikey beats Loma because but Mikey didn’t want to risk getting outclassed by someone smaller so he chose the other direction.

I don't get why many are claiming that it was Mikey who ducked Lomachenko. Mikey seemed to be very willing to make the match while he could still make 135. It seemed that it was Bob Arum who refused to allow Loma to face Mikey, not the other way around. Remember Mikey was a free agent willing to fight anybody while Lomachenko was limited to who he could fight due to him being a Top Rank fighter.

But regardless I don't think you can concretely say that Mikey ducked Lomachenko or Lomachenko ducked Mikey. I think if anything it was Bob Arum who didn't allow Lomachenko to fight Mikey.

I don't think Loma even walks around at 147 .. Garcia probably weighs about 160lbs+ these days between fights ..

Garcia committed career suicide in a way taking that fight cos his stock has plummeted since, no one talks of him in a P4P sense these days.. fair play to him for giving it a go but it was pretty dumb to choose to fight a BIG WW like Spence in retrospect..

Loma is clearly a smaller framed fighter than Garcia.

these guys have selective memories. they forget that loma was offered the fight and declined because he had a bad shoulder, that was gonna need testing before taking on someone on that level. mikey said see ya im off to get paid.
nothing loma throws is gonna make mikey blink, hes taking bombs from bangers at 147 with a smile. mikeys inside pivoting is unsurpassed. if you come at him, he can keep you in his punching range by turning with you or stepping back a halfstep to take aeay your range and get his. its when he has to move forward against faster fighters where he has trouble. loma is fast, but he cant win from the outside, mikey is bigger and will 1-2 him to sleep. he has to do what he always does, use angles to get in punching range and to get out. thats where hes gonna find that mikey has a more sophisticated guiding system than lomas seen before. hes gonna start getting caught exiting as mikey pivots in on his angles.. mikey stops loma at 138, which is the only place i see it as a possibility. loma is too small for anything bigger, and mikey is seriously settling in to a 147lb frame.

Since this has been discussed so many times for ages, I won't go into argumentation again about who is ducking and who is not.

However, you can see the career path of both two are really contrast to each other nowadays. In his debut in 147, he fought the best and he couldn't do jack ****. Even I had trouble to find how many clean hits Mikey landed. Nobody has a clue who or when he will fight next and what is his plan next. Loma, on the other hand, has been wiping the lightweight division and facing them one by one. Berchelt and Davis are now in 135. There are plenty option for him.
