Pele Reid - If He hadn't been trained by the Ingles how would he have done?

This guy has a seemingly irreconcilable bias against the ingle gymnasium

I think the poster responsible for this assault was trained himself by Ingle, and things didnt work out and now he bears a grudge.

If you fail at something in life, you need to take responsibility for it. Dont blame your trainer. It is you in the ring, all by yourself, your trainer isnt in the ring with you.

 

I Just got the feeling @Slimzos was a disgruntled bum boy who had been promised the world in the gym showers... Didn’t he resort to bumping 12 year old threads about the Ingle gym?

Fighters and trainers are like locks and keys. If they are the right fit you open up the talent. Perhaps Reid and the Ingles just weren't right.
Despite Pele coming from Birmingham I never knew a lot about him because all his Boxing work was based in Sheffield. No one in the Midlands had any inside track on him. Didn't he come from a Kick Boxing or Martial Arts background ? Not great for the stance or movement in Boxing.
I never felt that Reid had good fundamentals to fall back on. When the Ingle style didn't work he just got horribly disorganised and out of shape and just unravelled. A fine natural athlete but not a natural Boxer.

 

I was knocked out by Pele when I was I was 15 I grew up with some horrible right wing characters on a horrible right wing estate, one night myself and some "friends" foolishly and idiotically abused a gang of black youths while we were off our plot. This massive lad marches over stares at me kicks me in the head pole axing me. Turns out I'd just met Pele Reid. Our paths crossed many moons later and he didn't remember it when I apologised for my behaviour. He trained with the Woodhalls in a gym in Birmingham for a while right by where I worked. I used to go to the gym on my breaks watching the fighters, Broadhurst, Max Maxwell, Tom Costello, Pele Reid were there.

As far as fighting goes.. His chin or lack of it was legendary. Lennie Woodhall once told me to put everything I had on Julius Francis as Reida chin was china, I asked how he was so sure.. He said cause I've trained him previously I won a lot of money on that fight.

The kick off Pele also taught me a life lesson too. Don't go round acting like you wanna fit in with other people, I acted racist as so called friends were, it got me ironed out.

 

This was his big selling point. He was a much more successful kickboxer.

If I was gonna invent a story about being ironed out, I'd use a bit more imagination than saying Pele Reid.
