Patterson can stay away long enough to get warmed up, then he unleashes his left hook at the right moment. He stops Shavers in 4.

Are u combining his records at light heavy too? Thats not really fair to charles if so. He had a very long, gruellung career.

Patterson was a far superior boxer. But my question would be his psychological make up going into a fight with a Shavers. Was it Sonny Listons power or the threat of Listons power for his poor showings against Liston? Was he like K.Norten who seemed to fold against big Punchers, but took probably over a thousands shots from Ali and Holmes. I believe it was his psychological make up. And I believe he'd beat his self before any punches are thrown in a fight against Shavers just like he did against Liston.

Too big too strong, the first clean punch landed from Shavers would be the beginning of the end for Patterson, it would become clear early on that Patterson is too weak and too small, of course if Patterson landed his trademark left hook on Shavers he could KO him, but I see Shavers being too strong

Shavers lost to 2nd raters. Doesn't mean he'd lose to Patterson but Patterson has an excellent shot at winning and I'd favor him unless Shavers lands something big.

Floyd Patterson wins this one bout a KO 10, Earnie Shavers lacks stamina, which most big punchers do lack. Jerry Quarry took out Earnie in round 1 in 1973, and Patterson took George Chuvalo's best in 1965, and Oscar Bonavena's best in 1972. He also went the distance twice with Jerry Quarry. Shavers is not Sonny Liston in 1962, to score the win. Shavers wilted late against Muhammad Ali in 1977, and Larry Holmes in 1979.

I do tend to favor Floyd for the higher durability, stamina, and boxing ability. And although Shavers has a clear edge in power, Floyd can punch. Hard. No surprise if Earnie bombed Floyd out early tho. 50/ 50. It would be action-packed while it lasted.

I think that Floyds speed is the decider here.
Although with Big Ernie he could hurt anybody if he caught them properly.

If Floyd doesnt get absolutely blitzed early hed kick the **** out of Shavers. I can only see Shavers winning one way, early KO. I could see Patterson winning several ways, early KO, late KO, points, etc. Just a better fighter all around than Shavers who is so overrated its ridiculous.

Shavers is underrated in some camps. You say his name to some people, and they say "Who's he?" I get what your saying though. I don't really think for a big puncher that you can not a have a good chin and not have good stamina. Obviously, you can't do much about your chin, but if you have a poor chin, you should develop your stamina, which is something one can do. Foreman didn't have good stamina, but at least he was tough, and that got him far for a very long time.

Patterson is tiers above Ernie, different class. The Shavers monster struggled with Clarke, Stallings, Young(2 nd time) Quarry, Cobb, Lyle, what makes people think he is favourite to beat Floyd. Of course he has a punchers chance as he was a super puncher but the odds ar against him.

Ingemar Johansson bombed Floyd in 3 rounds with the right hand, but Ingo was a one trick pony. He didn't know how to throw any other punch but the straight right hand, and he didn't even have a decent jab. Shavers could throw all the punches, and well, as well as the jab.
