I will be happily shocked if Masvidal beats Usman. I expect Masvidal fans (which I am one amd will be rooting like crazy for him here) are in for a rude awakening next week. Usman by late stoppage. Levels.
Actually kinda irked that he took this fight. To me its almost like he's selling out a little just to get the payday he wants. You gonna fight Usman, of all people, on one weeks notice? To me that says hes not serious about actually winning. But... thats just imo.
UFC fights have already been bigger and better then almost anything boxing has served up in promotion and the amount of quality fights since they both resumed,this fight island promotion now has the fight Masvidal and the fans deserved from the start. Hopefully Masvidal gets the win now and we get to see an entertaining reign,with him as champ offering far more possible blockbuster title fights that revolve around him compared to Usman. Not to mention the obvious with his more fan friendly fighting style and huge personality,having cross over appeal as 1 of the companies biggest stars currently and being 1 of the few fighters to get somewhere near there full worth. Usman,Volkanovski plus the other champions and fighters getting PPV points, would have been happy also nowing that his late inclusion will bring an extra 200k+ views.
Apparently he had a full camp training with Dustin for the Hooker fight As an unofficial alternate for Usman.
I disagree with this levels comment. Uzman has only 15 fights and 50 rounds total, masvidal has 100+ rounds credit and a well rounded fighter with a very lethal striking and his strike rate is pretty high, a decent gas tank too. You have to look at Uzman where say most pro boxers first 15 fights skill level are at. You don't really reach your prime till you've had 100 rounds credit. Jorge beating Uzman would not surprise me, exp decent athletes sometimes trumps good athletes.
Maia is bloody hard to look good against, to be fair. I want Masvidal to win, but think Usman late submission or points is likely.
Just watched latest embedded episode and literally spit out my drink laughing,when Rose Namajunas coach referred to Pat Barry who was holding the pads as being 1 of the best kickboxers in the world when he fought. He wasn't even the best kickboxer in the UFC and I don't remember him ever being even top 20 in his prime
You right, there are levels to this. Masvidal is a perfectionist. Usman got played. Masvidal had a full camp. was all for publicity. Ufc set usmans ass up. His striking is that og a lil girl playing checkers vs samuel L jackson playing speed chess in the movie fresh. Masidal is not being held down by anybody right now. Either masvidal wears down usman and stops him late or he sets a tap with body kicks and catches him on the chin early. Remember, this is a business and like quik said, if it dont make dollas it dont make sense" Usman cant sell **** to flies. Boring ass 2 stoppages in 10 fights. Guy has zero chance of stopping jorge. It would take 2 acts of god for that to happen. Usman has terrible striking defense. He throws a jab with his right hand at his waist. He throws a left hook with his right at his waist and chin up. The he sits there and admires his work. Masvidal is gonna counter the **** out of him. Did you see how basic both colby and usman were when they fought?
