The difference is you can lose a few fights on the way up and still make it to the top of ufc/mma, rare in boxing
A bit? The biggest fights of the last few years were years past the best time to make them. Manny/Floyd comes to mind.
And what else did he do? What else did other promoters do around the same time? Crawford/Spence is a massive fight right now. For their profiles, it won’t get bigger than now. A commercial point, maybe. But they could have had a trilogy by then and tripled that money. That fight was over cooked from any other perspective. Years overcooked.
You watch an MMA card and there is uncertainty of outcome all night where boxthing these days is full of certainty all night with the odd shock such as Tony Dosh PPV v Rice Pudding Ruiz Jnr.
Boxing is weird. You need 20 odd fights to get used to the pro game, then you lose twice and it’s time to retire.
