Vitali wanted to go on against Lewis with his face falling off.

    That's arguable.

Peter had a fair Jab and won the fight with it alone vs Toney. Vitali's jab is longer, more active, and harder. Plus he's much harder to hit. Please explain to me how any version of Toney wins this one? Second time asking.

" It was reported recently that heavyweight James Toney rejected an offer of $1.5million to fight WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko.

The Michigan born fighter who started his career at 160lbs, has steadily eaten his way up to 237lbs, beating up many world-class fighters along the way. He has shown absolutely no fear of any of the heavyweights, and has proved his worth at 200lb plus to all those who doubted him.

So why then, has Toney decided not to fight Klitschko in what would certainly be the biggest and most competitive heavyweight fight in years?"

Trust me, I wanted to see this one and was disappointed the mouthy Toney balked.

Well, Byrd beat Vitali, there you have your answer. Yeah, Wlad would beat Toney.Wlad was a better boxer than his brother. You are talking about 2005, I think Toney preferred to go for Ruiz WBA belt and then go for a potential unification bout with the Klits.Toney made more money against Holyfield than the 1.5 min. Really not a serious offer.Made more sense business wise.I was referring to 2009 where the fight was seriously negotiated and scheduled to take place.

No no, you can't use an injury ( non punch related ) when one guy was way ahead and lost because of it and say that is going to happen again vs. someone else. That is a fluke that happens maybe once in 10,000 matches. If Sam Peter outboxes Toney, he would not stand a chance vs Vitali. Stop trying to build Toney up just because he KO'd Holyfield.

In the match offered by Wlad, Toney balked and fought a nobody! Point proven. Sure he wanted an easier path. Had Toney fought Vitali he losses his top ten tanking, and is likely finished.

Do not look for excuses, Byrd made him quit. I just think Toney might have done the same thing

A couple of pages back you held a list of guys accountable for quitting.. But its only a fluke when Vitali decides to quit? Your hypocrisy is exposed yet again.

Also Vitali was ahead , but those score cards were wide since the fight was in Vitali's back yard.. Byrd was adapting and was beginning to make Vitali look silly. Vitali looked exhausted from swatting at thin air. Byrd was nicking rounds and forced a corner stoppage over an exhausted Vitali.
He won fair and square. The rematch would have told the full story , but Vitali avoiding it proves for Fact that the win was no fluke.

Byrd did nothing. Vitali's injury is what resulted in the stoppage. A new Vitali vs Toney thread was created, why not comment there?

You talk as if Vitlai's the only guy who's ever been injured during a fight. The reality is many fighters have finished and even won fights with broken jaws, broken hands, smashed eye sockets, broken ribs, dislocated shoulders and many other injuries, Vitali didn't he quit.

A torn rotator cuff is a very painful injury. Worse than most boxing injuries. As I mentioned before many hall of fame people quit with lesser injures. Had the fight been for higher stakes, maybe Vitali risks permeant injury. It's not like he had Anglo Dundee in hisi corner, as he prevented Ali from quitting.

After 9 rounds Vitali had suffered a torn rotator cuff and despite being clearly ahead on the scorecards (88-83, 88-83, & 89-82). Harold Lederman, HBO's unofficial judge, had Klitschko ahead 88-83 at the time of the stoppage. So there you have it, an injured Vitali was way ahead of a prime Chris Byrd. I suppose Roger Federer can be up 6-1, 6-2, and 5-2 in a tennis match and get hurt. Would you credit the winner in such a match?

LOL, more like Vitali whips him, come out and join that thread. 12 people voted on a poll. Not one of them says Toney wins, so you can be the " one "

Or maybe Vitali cuts Toney worse than Tim Littles did, just because you think a fluke like that would happen again.

Toney is lucky it didn't happen. The guys in bad shape and reduced to subtitles when he speaks these days. Vitali could have really hurt him.

Toney fans know a no name in Dave Tiberi beat him, and he was on PED's as a heavyweight. The former drug dealer also was soundly out boxed by Sam Peter. 0-2 vs Peter.

it seems like this is getting to you LOL. Vitali will never be an ATG heavweight simply because of his resume. He lost by stoppage against the best two opponents he fought. His best win is 38 years old Corrie Sanders. It really is what it is..Toney on the other hand is already recognized as a genuine ATG as another recent thread here once again further supported.Just to put things into perspective before you drive off once again I am sure into your fantasy land full of excuses
