Any semblance of truth here?

Wasnt Warren announcing a BT extension in December/January that never happened?

I wouldn't be surprised if they've had talks. Don't know when the Matchroom exclusive deal expires, but there's an obvious potential issue over the DAZN tieup, if they try to move into the uk market. Even if they bid for one of the pl packages they'll be inflating rights costs. They may not be in a position to do that post coronavirus, but it must've irked Sky that their boxing content partner was potentially being lined up by an opponent.

As for the gripes about the product, there's grounds for disquiet, Eddie helped to inflate the us market that then took the cream of the uk fighters, but it's also important to remember that things weren't always amazing when frank was the sky go to man.

Maybe you’re seeing Frank’s tenure at Sky Sports with rose tinted glasses?

For all of Matchrooms faults, they’re clearly better for Sky and boxing in general than Queensbury imo

No I'm not arguing for the return of Frank to Sky.

I do think it's smart business for sky to explore their options, if only to make clear to matchroom that they're not the only game in town.

The Sky contract is up sometime in 2021. DAZN are currently looking for beta testers in the UK and worldwide so Hearn will soon have to decide how to structure his stable/TV dates.

The question would be how many Warren fights have Sky missed out on v how many Hearn fights have BT missed out on?

Don’t get me wrong - I’m sure Sky would want something like Dubois Joyce. But what’s Frank really offering these days? Warrington has gone back to Hearn. Saunders has left Frank. Fury is with Arum. There’s not much left.

Yeah, you've nailed it, the DAZN is apparently coming to the UK in 2021. From what I understand They have waited with Hearn because of his Sky deal.

Hearn currently has an exclusive deal with Sky here in the U.K. that deal is coming to an end and Hearn and Sky will have to renegotiate a deal.

But that deal with have to have something that allows Hearn/Matchroom to work with DAZN in the U.K also.

I can't see how Sky Sports Boxing can do that, so it might be one of those things were Sky and Matchroom still have some sort of deal but they can both work with other companies, there is no exclusive deal.

Even then, I can't see how it works, DAZN works on a subscription basis, Sky Sports Boxing is all about PPV monies, I can't see how it will be a level playing field, why would you pay £19.95 for a PPV you can get on DAZN subscription for maybe £10 a month?

Or Hearn might be about to jump ship and Sky will need something to fill the void, so maybe FW can do something with them.

You’d get into a situation like the WWE had with Sky where the WWE Network (which included PPVs) was £10 a month and the PPVs could be as much as £20.

Big changes at Sky I’d imagine next year as the lack of content available decreases because of coronavirus. Totally possible that Sky ditches boxing entirely and sells DAZN with a cut going to Sky.

Yeah maybe, It will be very interesting to see what way this all goes.

Also with AJ Vs Fury apparently next year, so who gets that exclusively here in the U.K.? Sky? DAZN might launch here with that.

This could get ugly, I can't see Sky and Adam Smith being happy after promoting and supporting Matchroom fighters for years and then the biggest British fight of all time happens, huge money to be made and they are shut out.

We've seen Hearn don't give a toss about British boxing fans, Hearn preaches loyalty but he is already saying the potential AJ Vs Fury fight might end up abroad, the biggest fight to be made, two British heavyweight world champions annnnnndddddd... its in Middle East, its crazy really.

Hearn is all about the money, and rightly so he is promoter and it's his job but I think Sky know Hearn is only loyal to where the money is.

    Spot on.

There's been a video before when Adam Smith got asked by Koogs about Eddie possibly leaving Sky, and he looked flustered.

Given the outlay DAZN must have made. Surely it will be harder for them to sustain their business model than Sky?
