Even being in the bottom four of your favourite fighters is still among your favourites. How can that be hate?

haha, you sound like a bad butt hurt hater there fella.
The senior Hopkins?? Haha. The same Hopkins that went straight from his loss to JC to beating and schooling the unbeaten young KO superstar Kelly Pavlik? Also, if you still want to go down this path, you should also factor in that JC was also in the twilight of his career at this point.

...and now Kessler was injured & damages goods? Really? That's a new one. He was unbeaten and in his absolute prime.

    All spot on.
JC was a master all rounder and who in addition also had had a legendary engine , the ability to throw over a thousand punches per fight (often with super fast 4-5 punch combos) and an iron chin.
    I think that the majority of haters don't like him because of one or more of the below categories;
    (a) being British
    (b) being British (again)
    (b) not begin knockout artist (he actually was a big KO fighter in his early days)
    (c) fighting mainly in England (I mean, only Americans are regularly allowed to fight in their home country, right?)
    (d) JC ruined your boy
    (e) Don't have enough understanding to know what JC can/was doing in the ring, so found a lazy bandwagon to jump on in forum threads.
    (f) retired with an "0"

It's well known Kessler was injured going into the fight but the proud Viking Warrior knew he had to take the opportunity and did not want to admit to the injury.

I thought Hopkins beat him but that night proved to me that Calzaghe really was a great fighter. And a tremendous boxer.

Later I dug a bit deeper into his career and the guy really was a spectacular.

Boxers often go in with injuries and niggles. JC is nearly always injured going into a fight' Kessler fought just as well as he always had previously.

I scored it a while back. I think I had it 6-6 actually.
This is whg I don't go around screaming that Hopkins got robbed.
And Slappy was himself quite old at that point.

I think it was Froch who said that boxers rarely go in there at 100%. There is always something.
And even if one is all good physically, they might be off mentally.

Hell, a single night of bad sleep will do a number on anyones cardio.

It was a well known rumour which his camp denied.

Bit rich making excuses for a fighter fighting a guy who had already broken his hand numerous times (versus Reid, Ashira etc) & who had been thinking of walking away years before because the hands were so bad.. Consider too that Calzaghe in that fight was at an age (35/6) that Kessler himself would be retired at.. perspective mate, it always helps. Old Joe Calzaghe beat undefeated Kessler 9-3, peak Froch got worked over by him & peak Ward had to use a multitude of illegal tactics to get the job done. Kessler looked like he was punching pretty ok to me in that fight buddy ;)

Ah well, at least Joe won fairly as opposed to Billy Goat Ward!
