    Just saw this on SSN
Bit of an odd one isnt it, esp as Riakpore has split with him too

Maybe there's a bit more to it.
Changing trainer and gyms when he's in a camp for a big fight seems a bit odd.

UKAD can't reach him in Portugal.

No ones been tested throughout all this anyway, UKAD or VADA. He initially went for a couple of weeks, then stayed as Portugals lockdown wasn't as severe as the UK's and he could still train there properly

Riakphore and co are managed by Whyte so no surprised on that front. Seen an interview with Mark Tibbs recently saying he had to comeback from Portugal as he has a young family and a new gym. Also said people dont know the sacrifices hes had to make to go back and forth to Loughborough but Dillian knows. Whyte has improved massively under him.

On a personal note, this explains a lot. I don’t know Mark that well but I’d been in conversation with him about the camp for the Povetkin fight and I’d felt that something was off when it had come to finalising some final details. Bad move for Whyte in my opinion.

That’s a bit of a shock tbh. Why is he training in Portugal? As others have said there’s probably more to it because it seems like a ridiculous reason to split.

My prediction is that the Povetkin fight won’t happen. Either that or he’ll get someone random to run his corner (Lemar lol) and then link up with Shane McGuigan after.

Surely must be more to this.

Curious for sure. As has been said, splitting with a trainer during fight camp is not a good sign. No doubt the truth will come out but Mark and his Father are well known in the game for not standing any nonsense.
If Whyte thinks McGuigan will be a soft touch he's in for a big surprise.
