I went there on a stag do for a short week. Put our bodies through hell, it was brutal, beautiful and disgusting all at once.
I'm not that surprised, I believe Whyte has gone slightly stale, it could be for a number of reasons but this is the only move he could control and only thing he could change himself. He has been sitting around waiting for a title shot, nothing he can really do about that, he is going to have to wait it out or force it. It could be just as simple as training has become a little too repetitive and he feels he needs a change, something to spark his interest and enthusiasm. Could be money, I doubt that though but we will find out. I don't think it's a terrible move, the timing could have been better, I think @CutThroatFade nailed it, Banks will probably be in his corner for Povetkin.
Could make the fight very interesting. Povetkin isn’t what he once was, he’s still not a fighter you wanna just turn up and hope for the best against. Even more so if Povetkin is back on the juice - I can see an upset.
I think it would be whytes best win on paper. I think povetkin could give him hell. Persoon could beat Taylor as well judging how the last fight went. Hopefully both come through and no controversial decisions or stoppages.
The hard done to Dillian Whyte who’s getting treated appallingly by the WBC could arguably have 3 defeats on his record and be serving a second PED ban. However, he got the nod over Chisora in their first match and got away with awful refereeing in the Parker fight, and the second PED case simply disappeared. It’s amazing what strings a good promoter can pull for you. Regarding the split, it’s all a bit weird so close to the fight but we’ll be able to judge it better when he see who he goes to. Many of us were dubious about Fury dropping Davison before the Wilder fight but that turned out to be a great move stylistically.
Whyteleafes promoter was EVASIVE during that whole failed test episode, just kept repeating the same mantra “he was cleared to fight” latest mantra which has been given out to all interviewers “don’t mention Epstein”
Yeah. No respect shown clearly. **** being a trainer. No contract and put all the work in. A manager sounds like the way forwards. 3 years contracts and I’m not really sure what they actually do! A la Sam Jones
I could be way off here, I probably am, but Tibbs himself said he was asked to fill spread sheets or something and he said he doesn't do that. I thought that line was significant. That would have been to do with sports science, types of training, training schedules, length of sessions, times of sessions, Dillians weights, all that sort of stuff and if Tibbs wasn't willing to do it then he wasn't doing his job. It's all very romantic doing it old skool, Mickey from Rocky style, but it's 2020 and at top level things are done very differently, you have a strength and conditioning coach and dietitians and they work a lot from data. If Tibbs wasn't doing his job to the standard Whyte and the rest of his team wanted then I can't see what else White should have done. You can't have a strength and conditioning coach, a dietician and the rest working from data if the head trainer won't provide any. Throw in, if Whyte was in Portugal and somebody was providing that data and doing the stuff Tibbs didn't want to do, it might have made a difference, one that Whyte noticed enough to make the decision.
Fancy being told that by a lawyer... Wow. Hope Povetkin does the division a favour by KO'ing Whyte and retiring.
