Joyce most certainly can beat him IMO if DDD wins this ,he announces himself on to the world stage Real 50/50 match up and i for one can not think of any other match up coming up that intrigues me so much
1 way or another we find out if dubois is hype or a real threat in the heavyweight division. Its a great fight. I'm a bit gutted for Joyce if he gets beat because there is no way back for him to fight for a world title
Chin is granite but did you see how much Bryant Jennings bothered Joyce with a body shot last time out? Really looking forward to this.
Joyce meeting Michael Wallisch (20-3) at the end of July and Dubois now facing Erik Pfeifer (7-0) in August in keep busy fights.
Very good match up but i think Dubois has too much for Joyce noticed Joyce is easy to tag and willing to take a punch to land one but he has not faced anyone with Dubois's power so for me Dubois takes it in later rounds.
I'm not totally opposed to the idea. Joyce is decent, but I think decent is likely where he tops out at. But Dubois is still very young and inexperienced, so not only would it not be a massive upset but it also wouldn't be the end of him in any capacity either. I lean toward Dubois at this stage but it's far from a formality.
I'm not sure where this notion comes from that Joyce has a granite chin. He was done twice in the ams inside a round, and he hasn't fought anyone dangerous enough in the pros to earn himself such an accolade. Jennings isn't noted as any kind of puncher, but Joyce appeared hurt at times and wary of getting tagged. While Joyce got the W, his reputation as an indestructible tank took a bit of a dent. The issue for Joyce is that his defence is wide open, and he invariably takes flush punches even when he is otherwise dominating the fight. His power also hasn't seemed elite level in his last few fights; strong and heavy-handed for sure, but not a one-punch threat at world level. Against Dubois, this isn't likely to end well. For Joyce to win he would have to get through the first part of the fight unscathed, and hope that Dubois falls apart. This is a possibility, and Dubois wouldn't be the first heavily hyped prospect to do so under pressure. Based on what they have shown in the pro ranks so far, it seems inevitable that Dubois will land big on Joyce at some point, and I don't think Joyce will be able to walk through those bombs.
Can see Dubois landing a spectacular KO here to be honest. I think its likely Joyce will get hurt, maybe even recover and eventually get grinded down then walk into an absolute corker. Saying that, if Dubois comes against any kind of adversity early on, i.e gets a cut early on that affects his vision, Joyce style could then be an absolute nightmare. Only so many shots you can ship until it affects you and Dubois does seem to have legit power and some decent skills. Was really impressed with him against Gorman who by all accounts was poor, Dubois just went about doing his own thing and he looked so comfortable it turned into a completely one sided fight.
Joyce has a chance, they are heavyweights, Joyce is a big man and can dig, anything can happen. I just think Dubois is going to be too much for Joyce, Joyce does get hit often, his defence isn't great so I see a Dubois win inside the first half of the fight.
