Joshua wasn't in his prime either, give AJ another 2-3 years and we'll see him at peak peformance. I'd say AJ has a resume almost as good as Wlad already.
This! People forget how green Joshua was when he fought Wladimir. Wladimir, was past his prime sure but Joshua was not in his either, probably still isn’t as he seems to be learning on the job to me. Too early to say how a prime v prime would go as I don’t know if we have seen Joshua’s yet.
AJ is basically a few steps behind where prime Wlad was. AJ still needs to master the clinch & shutting down the offence of smaller men (Ruiz) I like that AJ has that fire in him though and doesn't clinch to death. He's got through pretty much everyone without it, so does he really need it? don't think so. Won't help against Fury his only real challenge or Wilder.
Whether you like Joshua or not (I’m indifferent) the glaring floors he had a few years back are slowly being smoothed out, stamina issues, basic footwork, etc. He has some still, head movement, ability to clinch when needed as you mentioned, but he does seem to be progressing. Reckon Fury beats him but it’s probably more competitive than people currently think it will be. Fury has shown us Wilder’s real level (most of us always suspected) and I think after Fury vs Wilder 3 that will be the last of Wilder so unfortunately I doubt we will see the AJ vs Wilder fight.
Fully agree AG has massively improved his all round game. Learned from every fight respect that.. but wlad in his prime yh hard one too call. Wlad gets some stick on here but a cleaver boxer and had power till the end. Was a different animal before the jab years. Be a great watch 50/50 Maybe if I'm kind to AG out of national bias
Yeah, I think he’s improved in certain areas but there is still a way to go. The seek and destroy Joshua that we saw early in his career seems long gone now, if anything he’s become a bit too cautious since the Wlad fight but has improved other areas of his game. If he can somehow find a middle ground he’s in business in my opinion as he’s at his best being aggressive and trading at mid range (Ruiz 1 obviously says otherwise but you know what I mean) but still keep that discipline.
Ok mate good post totally get you there.. and let's face it in Ruiz 1 AG went in for the kill thinking Ruiz couldn't do what he did at close range. AG is definitely a better mid to range boxer now, be nice see him blow someone away like his early fights tho. Hope he don't sit behind his jab to much. Makes for a snooze fest but boxing is about not being hit as much as landing
little wlad barely mastered those basics with his highly enhanced brain doshua has no chance at all imagine the wlad that fought haye against doshua he would KO the ped abusing fraud in under 7 rounds
Totally, he’s had a couple of scares now and actually been stopped so naturally he’ll be more cautious but it would be good to see a bit of the old Joshua come back into play now I reckon.
Probably Wlad but let’s not pretend it would be a walk in the par for Wlad. Remember Wlad excelled against smaller men with smaller reaches who he could bully around the ring. He wouldn’t be able to do that with Joshua at all who is stronger than him physically.
