Neutral venue? Hatton wouldnt have Dave Parris at his back making a mockery of the rules. Cotto by ud or late ko
Possibly hatton when cotto was at his most vulnerable. Cotto was always good but for a long time he struggled at the weight. He could also be outworked. Cotto was a better fit for hatton than mayweather and pacman. He struggled with speed a bit...speed that cotto didnt have. Hattons work rate was superb at one point. Did not stop putting pressure on. Reckon it would have been a tough fight for hatton...but he would have beat cotto at some points along the way. Cotto filled out and went to heavier weights but reckon hatton was slightly better at 140. Cotto the better fighter over all. Would have been at war tho.
Cotto outboxes Hatton for a few rounds, then Hatton applies relentless pressure and makes kneeguel take a knee before being stopped.
Hard one to call, wouldn't have put money on it unless it was a good swing. I think Cotto to win in a tough back and forth fight. Hatton is easy to hit on the way in and Cotto's counterpunching is underrated, Cotto is every bit as tough as Hatton maybe moreso, Hatton hits harder for sure, Cottos technique is better, Cotto fought bigger men, but Hatton had a better run at the weight. Really what it comes down, is Cotto is more technically gifted and I'd bet my bottom dollar he'd look better if they sparred. It seems silly in a fantasy match up to base it on the intangibles of fight night.
Before Margarito, I'd pick Cotto. Even though Margarito was likely cheating with his loaded gloves, that fight took Cotto's soul. That's the night where Cotto learned that it's ok to lose.
Cotto is a level above and better in ever way. Better jab, better left hook to the head and body, better head movement, physically stronger, hit harder, tougher chin. Cotto by stoppage due to Hatton walking into a left hook. Cotto vs prime Tsyzu would have been interesting.
