I feel like floyd only experiences the pettiest of human emotions. It's a shame that his insecurities are that transparent. I can't blame him for taking calculated risks in a very unforgiving sport but it always got to me that his brash arrogance was always rewarded by some fans. Sure, I'm a fan of the guy because I'm a fan of boxing, but what he modeled as a human being and the face of boxing is really detestable at times.

    Again, no breakdown.
Just some select attributes thrown out as a solid case.

SRL was smart and an exceptional athlete. But so was Floyd.
And SRL was taller, but he wasn´t really all that much bigger. Floyd has ridiculously long reach and Leonard wasn´t a big welterweight.

Floyd has a great resume imo, but Leonard has wins over some dangerous all time greats which is much better than anything mayweather has ever done.

it should also be obvious to Floyd why Leonard is ranked higher

Leonard was a perfectly sized Welterweight. Taller with a longer reach than Floyd.
Floyd's only edge is defensively. All Leonard would need to do is box him at mid to long range the way he did Benitez. Past prime Oscar was the best jabber Floyd has ever faced and he was ahead after 7 rounds before inexplicably giving it up and gassing shortly thereafter. That wouldn't be an issue for Leonard.

So tell me why Floyd beats Ray. Or Tommy, Roberto or Marvin.

Also tell me why he'd not lose to any of the Fab 4 or go undefeated in the era...

    This.

People are so hung up on Floyd's "0", but he's struggled with a bunch of guys that just aren't in Ray's league.

What ATG did Floyd beat at WW in their prime?
Who is the best win Floyd has at MW?
Who is the best LW that Floyd beat?

Ray beat the Golovkin of his era. Y'know, arguably the greatest MW EVER.
Ray made DURAN quit. Read that again. And again. Once more, please.
Ray stopped one of the very best WW's and pure boxers in history.

I'd rate Manny's "Mexicutioner" run over anything Floyd has done.

Ray's win over Benitez >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anything Floyd did @ 147 TBQH.
Ray's win over Hearns >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anything Floyd ever did career wise.

There's a number of WW's I'd pick to beat Floyd h2h, a number I'd pick over him at WW in terms of ATG ranking. This is coming from an "objective" Floyd fan.

Leonard was a much more dangerous welterweight than Floyd was. Imo, Ray would have beaten him.

I don't think Mayweather's record will stand the test of time with most. Years from now when the emotion has been removed from the conversation rational boxing fans will place Floyd in his rightful place in boxing history. It won't be up to Floyd. I think Floyd was a great boxer but I'll always feel as though he could have tested himself more. I'm glad my emotional outbursts aren't all over social media.

Floyd purposely avoided tough guys when he could have fought them, and he preserved that undefeated record because of it. And he was good enough to do that, many guys could not have fought the level he fought and stayed undefeated. But still, he never fought prime great guys and that limits his legacy. Ray fought the greats. There is nothing Floyd can do to match Sugar Ray Leonard. It is mathematical. How can Sugar Ray Leonard fighting Benitez, Duran, Hearns and Hagler be matched by the opponents of Floyd? It cannot be matched. Floyd's whole plan was to stay undefeated and then somehow say later that he was undefeated and that overrides anyone. Doesn't work like that. I would think a fighter who fought everyone he could and has 10 defeats is more impressive than a setup undefeated record. In my mind. That fighter challenged himself and had confidence, which is part of being great. Would Larry Holmes be greater now had he gone back in time and not fought Spinks and retired undefeated? Or had he fought and beaten Pinklon Thomas, who was not an easy fight but beatable. He would have preserved his undefeated record.
