Thing is, Frank was on Sky. He was the guy putting on Box Office cards and he was the guy with nearly all the big names domestically. At the time Matchroom barely had any fighters, Hennessy was probably the only real rival so to speak for Warren and he made a pig's ear out of a decent stable in Froch, Witter, Murray and a young Tyson Fury. But Frank ended up putting on Box Office cards which he openly seemed to accept absolutely bombed; that one with Kell Brook headlining against Michael Jennings for example. Or trying to flog Khan v Prescott (even though the fight was pretty amusing) as a PPV event. He tried trying cards together with later fights in the US but when your domestic card is topped off with Audley v Martin Rogan what do you expect? Frank was in the position of power. Yes Hearn was a rich kid who's old man had done sports promotion but Frank had pretty much ran boxing in this country for decades and Hearn senior was more well known for snooker and darts.
Bellew v Cripple Toe was an incredible double poking for the PPV mugths mate - could not believe the thick cohort of PPV mugths allowed themselves to be conned TWICE for the same non event.
Spot on. If Eddie was a poor promoter, this discussion wouldn't be happening... One is analogue, one is digital.
As I said, if he's the goods I doubt he hangs around at the end of it. He'll turn 27 when that contract has five months left on it. He'll be in his prime. Based on what happens with fighters who get to a high level under Frank, a regular theme is that they leave him.
No you’re wrong he gets big stadium fights at Stevenage FC. I’m not a Warren hater but that was shocking.
This content is protected If this is true (not confirmed) it proves that Sky would be mad to get involved with Warren
Eddie has missed a trick by neglecting the home grown talent coming through , in favour of established stars and Olympians.
I'm surprised more weren't tuning in. Although it would've been up against football, not usually on when there's boxing.
Matchroom dont neglect homegrown guys. They encourage Matchroom boxers and preferred trainers to manage, and give the guys they find slots on cards
