Tonight we witnessed something very rare: A fight ends controversially, but no blame is being directed at anyone. Think about other controversial fights, and almost always someone receives blame, fairly or unfairly.

But in Torres/Holt II, no one really can blame holt for the headbutt. He threw a good and legit left hook to the body and happened to catch the stooping Torres with his head.

And as for Jay Nady, the whole exchanged happened so quickly, I don't think it's fair to expect anyone to catch exactly what happened. It's unusual for a fighter to be that badly hurt by an unintentional butt, and especially when the butt-er has been down twice in the first minute of the first round!

Let's just hope Showtime can get the money right and give us another fight between these two to settle the issue for good.

I agree with this, nice thoughts.

Pretty much off-topic, but would love to see a third fight in HIGH DEF!!! When is showtime going to start putting their fights on High-Def, damn it.

Fight should be ruled a No Contest.

I was watching this fight on showtimeHD, but it comes with the bars on the side and doesn't look highdef. Every showtime fight I've ever watched has come with the bars on the side?

Sorry, don't mean to be a thread stealer. Even though the fight was on an HD channel, are you positive it was in HD? For what it's worth I have comcast cable, maybe that has something to do with it. Nearly 100 percent sure though I don't have Shotime boxing in HD.

Showtime championship cards are broadcast in HD. ShoBox cards are not, but they usually take place on Friday night. Occasionally, as was the case in Torres/Holt II, they feature a "ShoBox Special Edition" that sort of splits the difference. You don't get HD, and you get Charles and Farhood rather than Albert and Bernstein.

Have you never gotten a Showtime fight in HD? I know there was one recently that was HD for me.

I'll have to check the on demand stuff, as I really can't remember. Once again, didn't mean to steal your thread.

Because he was hurt by an unintentional headbutt? He was ALSO hurt by a beautiful body shot...and a TREMENDOUS right hand as well.

The butt hurt...no doubt about that...but after the butt, his hands were STILL RAISED!!! The right hand is what knocked him clean out.

This is NOT a case where a NC should, would, could or will be instituted.

    :-(

No sweat. Do you get HD on demand? My cable system is not capable of that. It's either live HD or DVR in HD.

Agree. You don't reverse a decision in this case. It was a quick, fluke thing, perhaps, but it should be a Holt KO just as the Torres KO needed to stand in the first fight.

Can these guys fight again this year, please?

So your telling me that he had his hands up and was backtracking while ASLEEP????

    This content is protected
    ...The Ricardo Torres story!!!

    :hey

Seriously tho, I will say it again, he was hurt by a PHENOMINAL body shot.....THEN as Torres was ducking down, he was butted UNINTENTIONALLY...THEN he was backtracking, hurt by BOTH the body shot and head, with his hands up and feet still under him...THEN Holt landed a BEAUTIFUL right hand....THEN TORRES WENT TO SLEEP!!!

Yes the butt hurt, but it did not KO him...Holt's right hand did that. This is NOT an instance that calls for a NC, not in the slightest way.
