Looks like Ryder is currently in pole position to face Canelo!

Good opportunity for him although I imagine he will be outclassed and probably stopped.

Disappointing from Canelo that he’s taking a cheaper (or some may say easier) option. I assume Smith/Saunders/Bivol/Benavidez/Plant are all too expensive being title holders themselves or Canelo just doesn’t fancy the risk attached?

I'd be happy for Ryder to get the paycheck if he gives it a go and goes out on his shield unlike Fielding.

Should be a routine stoppage victory for Canelo though.

Personally if I was BJS I would have taken less money and asked for a win bonus and better rematch clause.

Canelo is going to fight GGG after this therefore BJS and Smith will be losing this fight until 2022 at earliest and both are currently in their peak.

rumour has it BJS was getting $8m for the fight. If he truly believes he beats him do a UFC deal and gamble. Take $4m and ask for another $4m if he wins. Then ask for a better rematch clause. 55/45 in his favour or even 50/50 as the rematch would be mega money anyway.

on top of that even at $4m BJS won’t ever see that kind of payday again even against Smith.

credit to Ryder even if he gets beat his profile will be through the roof compared to now and will be able to table in the BJS and Smith rematches asking for a lot more money.

I think they (DAZN) are leaning towards Ryder as he’s British and they still want to launch DAZN UK.

Ryder won't be going over for a paycheck if he does get the fight, that much is for sure.

I honestly don't think he's in the slightest bit intimidated fighting Canelo. He just fought an absolute huge SMW in Smith and as a massive underdog.

I still think he's riding high from his performance and other victories and he's probably at his peak in his career now, so there's no better time for him if he gets the opportunity.

If he puts on a good show then he will get more opportunities over there. Good luck to him.

Hope he gets it, he was really unlucky against Smith and deserves another big opportunity. If he gives a good account for himself he'll get more paydays in the future.

Junior publicly called him out live on facebook or wherever. A week later and canelos dug up an obscure brit to face instead. One who poses none of the challenges the young war machine does. Pretty obvious team canelo don't want any piece of young CHRIS.

Only downside is he could put on the fight of his life and get screwed on the cards 2 fights running.

At least this time he’s going into it knowing he’s got no chance of a decision.

I think Ryder might get it too pal, based on it being cheap option. First Team Canelo made an identical offer to Smith amd Saunders, both rejected it. Oscar then came out saying Smith doesnt want it (no mention of Saunders), then they make Saunders 2nd offer but not Smith, he then agreees to third offer but never received contract at any stage and pulls out. With time out ring they want a cheap safer option imo. They certainly never wanted to fight Smith.

I don't think Ryder would beat Canelo, but I think he has enough about him to make it a good fight. He'll be aggressive and give it a go. Would rather see Ryder fight him than Lemieux or Dirrell for one of the "cheaper" options. Deserves it more and would be more competitive anyway. I've became a bit of a Ryder fan over the last couple of years. A good professional, good fighter, game as they come and has shown how to bounce back from a few losses.
