Says Larry Holmes. But then he makes the excuse that he's 70 years old as to why he won't fight the current champions.

 

Wilder has that equalizer power, Shavers was a good contender during that time and he had more issues landing the right than Wilder does. Fury is a problem at any era so is Joshua but I think that Holmes handles all three of them, besides them he's pretty much right.

 

We have seen this argument, coming from he old timers, in every single decade.

We have also seen old timers in every single decade, who saw greatness in the current generation.

The question is, which group do you believe, in every single decade?

 

Holmes would have trouble with Fury. Holmes takes Wilder out quick, Wilder cant land the right on a moving target. Even though Holmes was susceptible to the right hand you have to deliver it, Washington outboxed Wilder for 5 rounds, by that time against Holmes Wilder would be out of the ring. Joshua would be interesting. So the the top two fighters of this era Fury and Joshua would be competitive. Sounds about right.

 

Holmes is a bitter old man who refused to fight his mando, refused to try to unify belts, refused to rematch his tough, dodgy decisions, and complained the whole time that he was not respected while fighting the Evangleistas and Cobbs of the world.

He could neither carry Marciano's jock strap, nor Fury's. Sorry if it upsets some people, but this guy is not a top ten ATG for having dodgy wins over Norton and Witherspoon.

 

Wilder and Joshua would get stopped in 8. As much as I like Deontay....he couldn't take the jab.

Fury might make it 12, but get badly swoll up and staggering like the goofy, Jethro Bodean-lookin' mother****er he is. Unanimous decision for Holmes, though he'd stop him if it goes past 13. Ruiz would have looked nearly as ridiculous.

Last guy who would have been hard for 1980 Larry would have been Lewis. THAT would have been a good fight.

Holmes was right !!! The fighters in his era were so incredibly good that Holmes didn’t even face many of them !!!

Aging isn't real, people just get out dated by more modern people.

 

The modern era is unrecognisable. It’s good but it’s a different kind of good and not really comparable. We have great fighters now and we had great fighters then. But it’s chalk and cheese depending what you like.

I like both without making comparisons because I don’t think you can make them without taking away what one era had to use what the next era had.

competition used to develop the standard. But that level of competition has been replaced with competition, matchmaking and modern training. It’s has changed. So that can’t really be used.

 

Give Larry 6 months to get in shape and he's whipping today's30 to 50 ranked heavy s! Fact..

 

If Ken Norton was still alive, he would make a comeback and take out everybody just to show Larry how it's done!
