The only ref who didn't protect Floyd was Weeks in the first Maidana fight. Floyd took a beating.

He felt cheated cause he couldn't head butt, low blow, elbow and wrestle like he got away with against Tszyu.

I find it astonishing that Hatton and his fans whinge about Cortez but are perfectly fine with diamond dave parriss's "performance" when wicky fought Kostya. The word "HYPOCRISY" goes to a whole new level.

I sang blue moon and I'm a Man Utd fan. Not my proudest moments, but it's boxing, ya know. There's only one Ricky Hatton. But no. Sure, maybe Joe Cortez did restrict him but I don't think it would makes much difference if Sugar Ray Leonard was the referee. It has already been mentioned several times. Levels. One of those as long as I'm around you're second best situations. I see Ricky still hasn't learned to live with it. :p

Hatton was on a hiding to nothing matterless of the referee but Cortez was a disgrace in that fight. He took a point of Hatton because Floyd fouled by turning his back to his opponent ffs.

My thoughts exactly....but lets not get carried away here, Hatton could never have expected to get a pass as he did against Tszyu...that was also a disgrace from a refereeing POV. Hatton should never have able to lean hold, Butt the way he did in that fight ...ever, so horses for courses...

Hatton's salty because got embarrassed in his two biggest fights against his two best opponents. The first flummoxed him with skilled boxing as he made the 'aggressive inside fighter' look a fool. Then he got sparked out by the smaller fighter who was everything Ricky Hatton pretended to be.

    Poor guy.

Some good points maade here about levels but Hatton, who I was a fan of had been used to fighting at home and with it all the advantages it brings promotionally wise forget fan support on that night in the States, great following but away from home, you are not getting anything handed to you,why would you....

Micky Vann was the ref of choice for a lot of his home fights, would let Hatton hit, hold and work out of a clinch that he often instigated, had the fight of been at Wembley Stadium, home promotion and the ringside judges being very carefully selected pretty sure Hatton would of heard the final bell.

He was beaten by the better fighter no doubt, who was rightly always going to hold the cards home advantage brings with Mayweather location, ref choice, glove type, ring size and making money for himself and the PPV,like Hatton ALWAYS had in the UK but smaller scale let alone the bottom line,Mayweather being the better fighter.
