Wanted to know what your guys' were, and thought maybe I'd learn of some by putting up this thread. For me, Robinson-Fullmer is probably the greatest four-fight series that was entirely filmed. Walcott-Charles was also a very fine four-fight series imo.
Chacon-Limon was good, although I've never seen the first one, and I think nobody else has either. But I find it hard to believe it could have been a snoozer when you take the other three fights into account.
Just remembered Griffith-Rodriguez, although ik salsanchezfan and others are not a fan of those. It seems like four-fight series and beyond stopped happening after the 60s.
My personal favorite among the ones I watched unfold is Azumah Nelson vs Jesse James Leija but an under appreciated one is in IMO Pongsaklek Wonjongkam vs Daisuke Naito
Thank you. I just think a lot people in recent decades don't have the attention span to wait 4, 5, maybe even 10 rounds to watch a fight erupt. I'm pretty young, and probably have an unusually long attention spans for fights many call snoozers, but I can appreciate an unthrilling fight for strategic purposes. The Griffith-Rodriguez fights all had a tactical flavor to them, but all of them had plenty of bursts of action, and were quite thrilling to me. Those two were wicked in an exchange together. Have they set the record for longest exchanges in boxing?
Kecthel/Papke As for WW citing the Charles/Walcott as being " a very fine series " from what I have read , they were fairly drab, and with very little real action, due to the fact they knew each others style too well, and they were both some what cautious in their approach to fighting, other than the KO of course.
I've read plenty of articles myself, and they can often be bias, hyperbolic, or downright dishonest. I have a sweet tooth for tactical affairs it's true, but this was a good series. Their were some dull moments, due to both being counterpunchers, but the second and third fights were awesome. Plenty of action, strategy, and excellent performance. The first fight only has a few rounds filmed out of it, so that is not a very good indication of how good a fight it was. The fourth fight was pretty dull for 10 rounds, but the last 5 rounds were pretty competitive. Really though, if you haven't watched them, just do that. Don't let people tell you a fight was horrible or amazing. Watch it yourself and decide. We all have our preferences, so we cannot accurately judge a fight for someone else with different preferences.
