Many view Boxrec as the best source for fighters records and event information. Though i have heard that many events are not checked for the authenticity off thier information. What do you think ?
Don't understand how they won't officially record the likes of BIBA in the UK (the Scott Harrison fight from this weekend a good example) yet will reference fights from some backyard in Ghana.
I refuse to rank them subjectively. Instead we must devise a complex and flawed but well-meaning computerized algorithm to evaluate the worth of boxing ranking websites.
Yep. Technically, the "official" one right up until a couple of years ago was Fight Fax, but Boxrec has pretty much become the Facebook to their MySpace. Boxing commissions worldwide would send results to FF first, now BR's bypassed them as the sport's main recognized record aggregating authority.
As a BoxRec editor, I would have to say yes. BoxRec continues to do their best in removing fake fights from the database. There has always been issues with fake fights but BoxRec has really tried to increase their diligence concerning the matter by not accepting fights from "commissions" that are completely unreliable, mostly compromised by a promoter's family and all that shady stuff. Mexico is a good example of there being numerous commissions that are hard to trust, hence the slower uploading of fights from that country into the database in the past year or so.
From the comments section in an article Gianluca Di Caro 27 Feb, 2017 I submitted a case against Boxrec to the Federal Trade Commission in America due this very matter, although much wider reaching as includes fake records of South American and African boxers, as well as inaccuracies due to protectionist moves on behalf of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) by refusing to update the records of Boxers that have fought in the United Kingdom on events sanctioned by the British & Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA), German Boxing Association (GBA), Malta Boxing Commission (MBC) or Bund Deautcher Faustkampfer (BDF) as well as direct interference by Boxrec in attempting to prevent a World title fight in the UK on a BIBA event (Marina Sheppard contacted World Boxing Federation saying they would not list the fight as not BBBofC) https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/boxi...hts-with-uk-champs-a-georgian-insider-claims/
I'm not familiar with fake records but I rate BoxRex highly. What's not to like? Has the info you want when looking up a fighter.
They are the official record keeping entity chosen by abc boxing, boxers federal id’s and licenses get uploaded there so there are the main place.
