Asking Canelo who fights on DAZN to fight on Sky in the UK when they are lookihg to enter the UK market is as good as a duck IMO

Thats dollars would be approx £8m. Which agreed would be a strecth but not a million miles away for potentially a much easier fight and a unified championship but agreed its difficult at a guess a £1m on the gate in Liverpool, 300k PPV buys in UK with casual names on the undercard Allen, Fowler vs Fitz etc. gives 4.2m after the sky cut, sell worldwide rights for a £1m so not a million miles away. Smith or Saunders win that fight from a gamble they then still have the Canelo fight to go at with a £8m payday down the road.

If they take the Canelo fight for $5m and lose they UK PPV might not be there again until they get a belt back.

But i do feel they should take the Canelo fight if they believe its a winnable fight.

They wont be doing that its a DAZN US fight and therefore owned by DAZN. What he is saying is if DAZN arent ready to launch in the UK. Sky would carry it as a late night PPV.

But not sure they would tbh as Smith and BJS dont have a big enough profile

The saying “you’re only as good as your last fight” applies here.
A controversial decision over John Ryder following on from a win over a washed up middleweight is not worthy of a $I, let aloneness $5 million.
Let him fight Bivol and prove himself, before shooting for astronomical sums.

    DAZN are going broke.

They're trying to rip-off subscribers during this pandemic.

No he said Callum is a Sky fighter not a DAZN fighter and if its on DAZN, they need to compensate him fairly for UK tv (included in $5m)
Canelo v Smith is 10x more UK ppv worthy than Whyte v Povetkin.

Agreed and I actually think Ryder would be competitive as he is ridiculously strong as he showed against Smith and as long as he kept his chin covered up and fought to a plan of delivering a steady increase of come forward pressure, he could give Canelo some problems.

I couldnt see Ryder winning as its always a stacked deck against Canelo but it would be good while it lasted and Ryder deserves a break to be honest with the amount of shitty decisions he's had go against him.

Your exchange rate is way off!
5 million dollars is less than 4 million sterling

That right $10m like i said in first post $5m each is £3.91m each. So i wouldnt call being £90,000 way off.

It’s also on at 5am in the morning and Smith has no profile with the casual viewer. I think $5mil is a pretty decent offer during COVID if true.

Canelo Ryder wouldn’t be competitive in my opinion. Ryder is good, fit and game but Canelo is elite.

Smith intrigues me slightly more as he is big at the weight. Although after the Ryder debacle it takes the interest out slightly. Smith just seems to have lost his drive

Smith v Saunders has the real feel of a fight where the loser will be in a very difficult spot. Completely agree with the above post saying Smith seems to have lost some of his drive; question would be whether Saunders has had any for a few years now.

I think it's actually fairly easy to promote. Have it in Liverpool, focus on the local aspect for Smith, paint Saunders as the cocky villain of the piece who everyone loves to hate and he'll play to character. Plus it's a fairly even fight. Obviously Covid may have sank that for now but I disagree with the idea that it wouldn't sell.

I get the impression both want the risk-free Canelo money before cementing their position to get the Canelo money if that makes sense by facing each other.

if you look at the last few years Smith has rarely performed in a fight were he is not tipped to win easy, but when he has went into fights under pressure he has flattened his opponents, Fielding, Mohammadi and Groves.
