Watching a lot of boxing during this pandemic. Lots of HBO classics with RJJ on the mic. All I gotta say is that man saw things no one else saw. He said things in Round 1 and 2 that would materialize the rest of the fight.

Ok, y’all stay safe might post again in 2025!

I always liked that he was never too professional not to laugh. Roy always seemed like he had a good sense of humor on the mic and I always enjoyed his commentating.

I liked him as commentator but my favourite was Manny Steward. Could listen to him for hours. A bit like Roy he could break down the fight play by play inch perfect.
Now we’ve got to listen to the likes of Tim Bradley who is utter garbage.

Well, I've been binging a bunch of El Terriblé fights over the last few days and I thought it proper funny when he called Daniel Zaragoza 'that old guy' at the start of the Junior Jones fight. I also tend to find his contributions either annoying or obvious. Yeah, not for me I guess.

I like Steward and Clancy more.

No way, the godly Manny Steward is by far the best, followed by Larry Merchant albeit more for his wonderful turn of phrase, superb one-liners and entertainment value, then Paulie who FTR ordinarily I can't stand. I do like, rate and enjoy Roid as a commentator though. The problem I have with him in that role, and this applies to all fighters turned commentators with hideous punch resistance, is that I often find my mind wandering during the action asking myself and thinking things like

''I wonder what would've happened if that punch landed on Roid's disgusting old lady glass jaw?''

Or if one of the combatants is a big puncher

''Roid would've ducked the **** out of that dude in his prime''

    And it's really distracting

Also I strongly suspect, what with his history of rampant PED abuse, that he might be on some kind of mind performance enhancement drug when he's calling fights and that just leaves a very sour taste in my mouth because I know that the likes of Steward, Larry, and Paulie and other commentators are all natural.

Lampley, Merchant , and Foreman was my favorite commentary crew. In terms of sheer entertainment.

    Roy was alright.

I found the commentating of Roy Jones Jr laughable at times. His nuggets of wisdom such as, "a win is better than a loss," made me question how he remained employed for so long.

Merchant didn`t know as much about boxing fundamentals as Steward.

No doubt one of the best to ever do it. Spot on analysis and insight. I have no idea why he hasn't been hired by a network yet.
