Why do modern heavyweights look as if they have faster jabs than old heavyweight boxers?

Serious question. Take for example the Joshua vs Parker highlights:

When I see Joshua and Parker jabbing at each other, they seem faster
than even Muhammad Ali from the fights I've seen of him (I've watched his 60s and 70s fights).
But I've heard a lot that Ali was not just one of the fastest jabbers in heavyweight history, but in the history of boxing.

So why do these guys look like they jab faster? Is it the video frame rate? Am I just not watching closely enough?

Have you got a link which would really showcase someone like Ali's speed?

That Parker fight was even worse than Ruiz 2. The bodybuilders punch accuracy is atrocious when he's scared to fight on the inside. I hope Pulev flattens him!

Many, likely the majority, of photography and videography buffs will tell you that film is superior to digital in end quality, as well as in other areas. The answer to OP's question is definitely not that.

AJ has a faster jab than Frank Bruno who he is often compare to but not Ali who`s hand speed was awesome, I`d say Parker`s counter jabs are quicker than Ali`s though, howevder both these guys have faster hands than most heavies today and Parker is known as a speedster, Jarrell Miller hardly jabs and certainly doesn`t jab quicker than Floyd Paterson etc. Larry Holmes had one of the fastest jabs in heavyweight history.

Ali`s jab didn`t travel far his lead hand was always near his opponents head so he just had to push it out a bit to land, his 1-2`s v Liston were quicker than Parker and AJ`s 1-2`s, in fact AJ`s 1-2`s looked slow v Parker, Ali`s 2 almost landed the same time as his jab, like Mike Tyson used to say 'make two punches sound like one' b-boom, Ali`s combo`s were quicker than AJ`s too v Liston.

2030s will have much faster heavyweights.

Heavyweight will be the best division to push the limits with heavier super-alloy implants that can endure higher psi impact, CNS will be decentralized which will allow maximum reaction speed even when a boxer is under attack. Full-auto control options will allow control by software with human Semi-auto options when a necessary unpredictable drama mistakes is necessary for entertainment.

I wouldn't say people would say that. I think people like the look that comes with but its very much a nostalgic thing in the film/tv world

Did the heavyweights of the past throw more punches per fight also?
