Laughed at the bit at the end when Helen Chamberlain said "He loses a few pounds, you put on a few pounds. Or is it the other way around?" and everybody starts laughing (not really funny, frankly) and camera pans to Joe Calzaghe sitting there like a bowl of porridge.
To me he just looks nervous with the spotlight being on him asking questions camera etc! I think he became bit more comfortable as the years went on.
terribly awkward and shy in his younger years , can tell he suffered with anxiety in public for a long time makes him comes across very dim and tends to deflect it with arrogance.Lives 20 minutes from me and was always a little deluded and smug , but 46-0 kinda deserves it , used to run sabatinos restaurant which had photos of ali leonard dempsey etc on back wall , joe asked to have his photo taken one night ... but Only if he went on the wall next to ali , again seemed like a knob , hindsight showed he knew more than most
At least he didn't spend about 3 minutes spitting a sentence out and spouting rubbish in an attempt to sound intelligent. Joe Calzaghe, the bloke who overcame all kinds of confidence issues to become a two weight World Champion.
Exactly m8,the Welsh wizard was a proper fighting man and should have been a superstar of these tiny isles.
Joe Calzaghe was a GREAT fighter. (Who whooped Eubanks ass) Who cares about personality. In the ring is all I care about.
I often slag calzaghe but in truth...what they achieved was miraculous. Him and the old man. When you see training set ups nowadays. The set up the olympians have at their disposable etc. Its quite unbelievable what they achieved with the old mans drive and joes talent etc from a shed in wales. Pretty sure the old man had no boxing experience. Unbelievable really. Just goes to show that sometimes all you need is the drive...something that the old man had in abundance. We often slag boxers on forums etc...But tbh these guys like joe achieved our dreams really. Fantastic fighter and achievements.
