Does anyone still consider him to be the hardest heavyweight hitter of all time? I would personally give it to Wlad and put shavers second. There a guy on another forum explaining how he sparred Holyfield, bowe, tua, old foreman, Lewis, bert cooper, and Wlad. He claimed without question that Wlad by far punches much harder than all of them. I think that’s a huge statement since he sparred with some big hitters so I’d put Wlad at #1.
I would put shavers at #2 since many heavyweights have claimed that he hit harder than Foreman and Lyle. Ali said he hit the hardest which is also a huge statement since he fought all the heavy hitters of his era. However I’d still give to Wlad because he’s bigger, more muscular, has longer reach, and can get much more leverage into his shots. So do you guys think shavers is still the hardest puncher of all time? If not, who would you give it to

There will always be the most support for Shavers' power. But when you think about size, Shavers would hit harder than Wlad. Look at how big Wlad was-6'6". Anybody that big will hit hard. Shavers was only 6'0". Think about it this way: if Wlad were 6'0" his power would be nowhere near that of Shavers.

True but regardless of their size I think Wlad has more power

Someone....Briggs said old Foreman punched harder than Vitali and Vitali is stronger and better puncher than Wlad!
    Shavers>Young Foreman>Old Foreman>Vitali>Wlad

    Wladimir Klitschko - 49 wins/44 KO's - 90 KO%

    Vitali Klitschko - 35 wins/34 KO's - 97 KO%
And Vitali faced better people than his younger brother!

Agree for this. P4P Shavers is very likely the biggest HW hitter. Wlad simply has a LOT of lbs on Shavers. There's a case to be made for guys like Lewis etc too. Not exactly featherfisted.

Wlad unquestionably hit harder than Vitali. You can't just look at KO rate and judge a fighter's power off of that.

Saying who was the hardest puncher, out of two from different eras, is a very big ask.

Personally I think that the hardest puncher from the Klitschko's era was probably Brewster.

When a big guy hits hard it can make it hard to tell if it's real power, or weight power.

Agreed and, generally, there must be a point where distinguishing between how hard a heavyweight can punch, compared with another, becomes academic. Devastating power separated by degrees is still devastating power.

Brewster is not a bad shout.
