Watched it a couple of times trying to score it against mayweather if anything and reckon he still won it by a point or two. As much as it pained me. Think he just done enough.

Posted this during a 365 fight a day challenge at another site. My opinion remains unchanged.

As a quick note, I think Mayweather should probably have been credited with scoring a flash KD in the 2nd. The feet came together, but I think the left hook Floyd landed while Castillo was off balance did as much to put him over.

Have scored this twice, once very recently. Had Mayweather close both times.

It’s honestly a little underwhelming if you come in expecting Castillo to beat Mayweather up - mostly you just get him arguably winning some rounds by out working Floyd, mostly with body shots, while Floyd lands his usual crisp shots in between.

I also reckon this fight has some of the strangest compubox stats ever

I know Compubox counted low blows, and JLC did land low/belt line on a number of occasions. If they counted those, that could help to explain JLC's high total connects.

When I watched it live I thought Castillo won. I remember watching the replay a week later and honestly understood why some gave it to Mayweather. It was a close fight with some very close rounds to score. I honestly have no problem with it going either way but am glad that the rematch was conclusive.

One discrepancy there Floyd NEVER had surgery, he NEVER had a torn rotator cuff either. Unless Ellerbe's consoling & caressing cured it ROFLMAO!! Pac was the one that had to have that surgery Harold's card was spot on too

Castillo but props to Mayweather for giving him a rematch. Probably the only match from Mayweather where I legitimately think he lost.

It really could have gone to either man.

Plus the deductions aren't automatic 10-8 so that murks it a bit.

Personally the most recent time I've scored it I had it for Castillo but previously I've had it for Mayweather.

My gut instinct is that Castillo should have got the nod, but it's not as bad a robbery as some make out, you can justify it to Mayweather.

Here's the most recent thoughts I had:

    Castillo vs Mayweather

I gave Floyd rounds 1 through 4.he moved about the ring expertly, fired off his sniper shots, great jabs to the body, and for the most part Castillo was just chasing him about, very similar to how Corrales did, but not as wide open.

Rounds 5-12 I gave to Castillo (apart from the 8th,i gave Floyd the benefit of the 10-8) as Castillo was able to cut the ring off expertly, outwork Floyd up close and really lands some quality shots.

I think Jose was really unlucky not to retain his title here.

Rounds 5 and 9 were close so I don't wanna shout robbery, but Jose out landed him, landed the harder shots and was clearly the ring general.

Soon as the fight is over Floyd says he had an injury to his shoulder and couldn't throw his punches the way he wanted to. Usually I wouldn't buy an excuse like that, but he went away to have surgery and won clearly in the rematch so maybe there is something to it.

    Castillo 114-112
