Be interesting if joyce can get it past a certain point without taking too much damage. Cause think you could be right...just think as soon as it opens up which will be early....dubois will land something serious. Hopefully he can try to drag dubois into a fight tho and see what comes of it...as you said dubois doesnt have the experience for it. Just think joyce is a bit stuck in this one....as in his success comes solely from his relentlessness....with that he kind of has to be open which probably means hes gonna get hit flush from dubois. Not a great position to be in. I think dubois can smash joyce and still not neccesarily be the real deal. Its just that joyce is made for him.
Fully agree, it’s great hearing the instructions being shouted out and the punches landing etc. Outside of a big fight, which obviously needs atmosphere etc , I could get used to this fairly quickly
I don’t think any reasonable person can hammer Frank or Eddie with all the restrictions in place - these shows and all the preparation leading up to them must be a nightmare.
I enjoyed the show last night and long may boxing continue. The opponent of Joyce at least came to fight and earned every penny.
I thought Joyce was terrible, absolutely woeful defence against a mediocre opponent who probably realised that he should reign it in a bit as he was finding it a bit too easy to land and that wasn’t in the script. I’ve given Joyce a lot of credit in the past but I just don’t see any improvement in him since his debut. There’s no plan B. It’s exactly what it says on the tin...a slow front foot fighter who’s only game plan is to overwhelm his opponent with heavy handed high punch out put & soak up shots in the process. He’s so cumbersome especially with the way he throws jabs to the body. Anyone with a bit of speed and timing would starch him when he throws that jab. Warren knows exactly what he’s doing here...it looks fun in theory and quite possibly a 50-50/60-40 fight, but in the post fight chat I think we’ll be kicking ourselves to why we couldn’t just see the obvious...Dubois spectacularly stops him in first half of the fight imo.
The Southern Area fight was entertaining. Bentley always looked possible to get caught so that was decent watching. The two young lads look to have a good level of ability. We have had worse cards without pandemics. From both eddie and frank. Must be costing a fortune these shows.
Dec’s a value bet at 4/1. Glad he’s getting a few nights under the lights now; very entertaining fighter who puts everything on the line. Certainly not one for the purists but you can be guaranteed a good, honest fight with plenty of heart on show, Scunthorpe’s own version of Ruslan Provodinikov.
Nice addition to the card-we’ve got decent action on Friday and then Eddies show on Saturday. Happy days.
