Tyson fury & Muhammad Ali Similarities ( fury is Ali of this era )

    I’ve followed Tyson fury since his days when he was fighting on undercards of Hennessy’s shows and when I first saw him... the way he talked self belief and confidence in the ring I couldn’t help but think of Muhammad Ali, but it didn’t come clear until the days to come. Let me pull up some career similarities first
    1. Fury gets dropped by Steve Cunningham few fights before his Klitschko fight
    - Ali as well gets dropped just couple fights prior to his Liston fight by cooper,
    -Leading the media to believe they both couldn’t handle their opposing champions powers on the night, then both succeeded to obliterate their championship opponents.
    2. Hiatus from boxing , Yes both had a lay-off in boxing ( around the same age as well ) but I think fury’s comeback was a little bit more inspirational as he was fighting personal demons and obesity, alcoholism. Ali comeback was great too but it just didn’t have the “ struggle “ that fury’s had
    3. Style, both obviously share similarities in their boxing styles to the footwork head movement iq jab and clinching techniques & the most obvious of all the antics... both used their mouth showboating skills as their biggest weapons inside the ring.
    4, foreman and wilder fight. Media outlets bookies fans all had foreman knocking out Ali and gave ali slim to no chances at all, never mind Ali stomping foreman. Sound similar? well I guess the same can be said for fury vs wilder 2.



    There’s more to come as fury career is far from over we can only wait to see what’s next.

    I completely agree + ali was never really tested he never had a golden fight , he fought a washed up liston and moore and even faked the liston match , faced an old Patterson was beat by joe Frazier robbed ken norton , and even foreman beat him but took a dive because don king told him so , ali is the most overrated fighter of all time imo

    You can be a cynic all you like but Ali is still one of the baddest mofo's to ever grace a boxing ring.

    Same applies to Fury. These men are physically and mentally tougher than most. You have to kill them to stop them. They mentally can't quit. Physiologically different in terms of a toughness.

    Fury yeah , ali is overrated , even rjj was a better heavyweight than him

    It's uncanny because back in 2015 after he beat Wlad the similarities were already showing

    during his time out during AJ's rise I said Fury would comeback and it would be his Ali Foreman fight and he'd stop a gassed AJ mid-late fight.

    It will happen. It's just a question of when. It's a shame Ruiz beat AJ first.

    I actually like your post and add one thing:

    They are both capable of tailoring their style to an opponent, or making changes depending on their own physical condition.

    I will say for the benefit of those who are employing sarcasm--I don't think anyone is trying to imply that Fury has proven what The Greatest has proven. Fury is in the middle of what can prove to be a top ten career. Ali was simply the Greatest.

    What do tyson fury, AJ and ali all have in common? Irish heritage! AJ even qualifies for irish citizenship through his father.
