I'll tell you what mate, I'll go with the opinion of 100's if not 1000's of boxing writers, commentators, promoters, professional boxers, past and present, athletes from other disciplines and likely 90% of the world's population that are all of the firm belief that Ali was and still is 'The Greatest' as opposed to that load of old pony you trotted out..... FFS!

Have you even watched any of his fights?

 

Just stop already..... PLEASEEEEE! Ali has fought a who's who of consensus, top 10 Heavyweights and defended his title in a golden era of heavyweight boxing 25 odd times, 3 times Heavyweight champion, undisputed and caused some of the biggest upsets in Boxing history, PERIOD! Fury is the best of this era, maybe. He's yet to win that argument conclusively against the likes of AJ, Whyte, Usyk and some of the up and coming studs who'll be knocking on the door of a title shot in a year or 2. Until then, it's all just opinion and conjecture.

 

No it's not opinion and conjecture to say Fury is technically a more complete fighter than Ali. When I say complete fighter i'm not talking about resume & achievements.

 

Here's the list of similarities:

- Both belong to species homo sapiens

That's it.

 

Neither am I.... Ali was a defensive master in his pre ban days with the best foot work of likely any Heavyweight in history. Far faster hand speed than Fury, FACT., and he proved to have an ATG chin after the ban. His ring IQ was off the charts, excellent combination puncher, a blind siding jab, every punch in the book and he could get down and fight in the trenches when he had too.

His mental game was also other level, hell, he'd wind opponents up so much their game plan would go out the window before the opening bell.

On top of all that, Ali is responsible for some of the Greatest performances in Boxing history. Fury beating a past prime WK who's wife was on suicide watch due to Post Natal Depression at the time of the fight, training camp and build up and beating Wilder who anyone with half a brain knew was a very limited one trick pony does not compare to Ali's achievements.

Fury would have to fight and defend his titles 3 times a year until he was 40 to match Ali's achievements.

 

Also Ali was a Muslim and Fury is a drunk

 

Ali didn't throw every punch in the book. He was a headhunter. He NEVER threw bodyshots. He never fought on the inside. He rarely threw his left hook. He rarely threw uppercuts.

All reasons why Frazier had his number slipping past his straight 1,2 all night.

Fury does all of these things Ali didn't and more. He is technically more complete.

Ali's defense relied on his quick feet, agility and speed. Then when when he came back from his haitus he found out he could absorb lots of punishment anyway after losing that agility.

What really made Ali special was his mental and physical toughness like no other, something Fury is also showing.

I studied and idolized Ali before I even knew Fury's name. I'm not trying to slate him these are just the facts.

There is certainly an argument for that claim miniq. Like all fighters Fury will be judged once his career is finished.

 

The **** he is. That doofus is a clumsy oaf compared to Ali.
