Being Cuban lost its awe status a long time ago in professional boxing. Who's the most dangerous now? Maybe Dorticos at Cruiser? Lara at 154 still? Maybe even still Rigo at 122?
I think he's just a relatively high risk, low reward type heavyweight nowadays.

Whyte did. I don't actually think anyone else did though.

This. Whyte chose Parker over him.
It's not like anyone was calling Ortiz out, but nothing was ever negotiated.
The Cuban wasted a lot of time jumping between promoters and then even more by chasing Wilder.

Grandpa Ortiz would have whooped poor Dillian with his walking stick. Thank god his comrade Dave Allen took the beating for him.

Parker is a better fighter than Ortiz.

Ortiz would have led to a shot at Wilder tho.
And Parker might not really be that much better than Ortiz.
But he definitely was more accomplished and the higher ranked opponent.
Credit to Ortiz. Wanted a money fight and fought a big name for it

I have it on good authority that Jack Johnson's great great grandfather could have had a crack at Ortiz but declined. He said that he didn't want to beat up on an old guy but I think he was scared of Ortiz :deal:

Nobody did. FFS even the walking punchbag Dave Allen fought him, went 7 rounds, was never off his feet.

Ortiz was and still is just a myth.
