Pretty interesting fight. Going into the fight Nino was 65-0, an incredible record. Kim was just 22-2. And Kim would defeat Nino, pretty funny fighter to take Nino's 0. the fight was held in korea. but just wanted to know was nino robbed? why did nino have to travel to kim country when he was the champion and had so much to lose? is this fight on footage?
I read in an interview with Nino and his thoughts on the loss - that he would have won if he hadn't fought in his opponents native Korea. And in-fact the outcome of the match is debatable. Still, Ki Soo kim was still a great fighter... From Cyber Boxing - According to Nino Benvenuti, "it's better to win when there is alot of competition when there isn't any". Nino was a fighting champion and would even take it to his opponent's home turf, not unlike Eder Jofre (who was defeated in a more convincining but still close fight with another Asian legend).
I've seen highlights of the fight, but I don't know how much more than that is on film. The decision was considered disputed, but Kim reportedly gave him a hard time with his pressure and crouching style. I believe Nino was having a lot of trouble making that weight by then too.
My I butt in? The fight was filmed. Poche stores' Benvenuti collection has the Kim fight in its entirety.
https://boxingdvds.myshopify.com/ Tbh, I never have bought this particular set from them (although I have been planning on it for a while), but I have bought from Poche stores about half a dozen times and have been very satisfied with their stuff. Top notch video and sound. They're very honest.
