You actually got your tape measure out and asked him to stand back and heels to door frame somewhere?
No way was he 5´7. Definitely 5´9 or at least 5´8. Reminder, people are baaaad at guessing heights. Shorter guys are seen as being a bit taller(Manny surprised MANY of his opponents up close) and taller guys are always said to be shorter than what the stats say.
From what I can find Hagler was/is 5’ 9.5. He always looked big to me. Talk of 5’7 or 5’8 seems a little bit out
Yep, a muscular guy has more capacity than a tubby one to quickly lose [gain] weight through de[re]hydration. As already pointed out, all of Hagler's fights had same day weigh-is. What we know about Hagler suggests that he's a guy who didn't balloon in weight between fights, but that's a totally different thing to the hydration question.
Similar to how Froch went around his business. I think he stayed not far off fighting weight all year round. At a guess I'd say 165.
I am 5’9 at the moment and he looked at least 3 inches smaller than me I can guess people’s height by looking at them
Canelo [160lb limit version] is the classic contrast. [all informed guesstimates] Canelo - walks around comfortably north of 190; weighs in at [on the money] 160; starts round 1 post rehydration: maybe as high as 180lbs, comfortably north of 175. Hagler - walks around at c 165, 170 absolute tops; weighs in comfortably under 160; starts round 1 post rehydration: comfortably under 165lbs, maybe not even 160.
This, One of the things I noticed about Hagler (being a fave I studied him intensely) is that he's really a very, very smallish MW. I definitely think he could've competed at JMW. I think he was one of those Hopkins guys that stayed right near their competitive weight even during off season.
I can't believe you really think Hagler is a weight below Mayweather and the same as Pacquiao??? He's way too big, too much natural muscle. The two ive just mentioned above dont drop down either. Floyd walks about at the limit, as does Manny. Just because you can, doesn't meant it's best and Marvin done what was best.
And I suppose it's no coincidence that both Froch and Hagler were known for being durable and taking a good punch. Not weight draining must've helped them both a lot in that regard.
