about the sport - who were they and what them so knowledgable?

    Tyson is an obvious answer.

Studied all the greats, waxed lyrical about the greats from the past, and I'm pretty sure has an extensive collection of film himself.

Tyson may be a historian on boxing but his knowledge on the game is lacking.

I don't think I've ever seen him predict a fight correctly and when asked about upcoming bouts he's way off.

He's like a person who's read lots of books but isn't well read.

I would not want him to be my trainer if I was a prospect.

I'm sure Archie Moore is very knowledgeable about boxing and its history. James Toney probably knows a thing or two about it as well.

nobody cares about that nonsense of theoretical knowledge of Boxing, a fighter has to do his job which is to fight well ,period. most of the super boxing connoisseurs are frustrated that never excelled in a practical way in that sport
