Only the true hardcore like the poster above would rubbish it mate. I mean we haven't had any live boxing over here for months other than Frank's sub par efforts (understandable in the circumstances). But I suppose I'm not hardcore enough to sit on my sofa on a Saturday night after a long week at work and watch some competitive fights, I will make sure I check the odds for any future events to make sure they are worth my time........ It was a cracking night given the circumstances and I'm looking forward to next weekend now. Or I could just quit my job and just bet my dole money on some none competitive fights and come to ESB and rubbish an event based on bookies odds.
I enjoyed both nights of boxing. Been starved of it for months so grateful for owt. I like the BT coverage as you get to listen to the corners during the round and the punches landed. I enjoyed the sky coverage because of the set up and I was interested in the fights beforehand. Both Eddie and Frank did good.
I don’t think Frank/BT have to worry about what Hearn is doing IMO. Matchroom to their credit have far more financial muscle then Queensbury and different overall circumstances with DAZN etc, plus Hearn has got to try to sell a PPV in a few weeks time, which he couldn’t do in a studio show even if he wanted. Great effort from Matchroom production wise - it was a nice spectacle and there’s no real complaints from me. However it’s just a slight shame Sky pushed for the fake crowd muttering and we didn’t get to hear the corners and punches as promised. This is something, I’ve really enjoyed about the BT shows so far and with the April 15 card which is stacked and then Dubois afterwards, that should make it even more fun.
It was an enjoyable card and the match making was very good, even though all the favourites won the fights were largely competitive. I'm the first to slate match room when they put on poor cards and have the audacity to charge PPV for a lot of them but no complaints about last night, fun night of boxing.
Totally agree I think with the added sound it could have been really good but I guess I was talking more about the presentation as such and the fact the main event had the firework entrance etc...... obviously the fights are the most important thing and no doubt DDD v Joyce is a mouth watering fight as will some of the fight camp fights ending in Whyte v Povetkin. To be honest I should be Thankful we are getting to see anything at the moment as a few months ago I was thinking it would not be until after winter we would be seeing anything.
People will never give Hearn praise he deserves but that was excellent last night and I don’t think it’s to do with ego by putting on a good product
He look very retro i was thinking the same at the time mate he also put on a clinic was a great opener and set the tone for the rest of the evening for me.
Personally felt the card was the best I’ve seen yet. Quality of the fights were really decent. Knockouts and wars. they didn’t do it on a budget and tried to do something different and have a show. It was also actually promoted. The BT and Top Rank shows so far. I literally don’t know they are on unless someone here mentions it. I saw more promotion for Wardley vs Valily than o saw for Joyce who is supposed to be carrying a PPV in a few months. Yes it would be great to have had a few bigger fights on the night and I. The next few weeks but it’s still a country mile better than what frank is putting on.
Just had a look at the rest of the fight camp schedule. Significant drop off from Saturday for the next couple of weeks. Shame with a stable that size they haven’t put on more like Cheese vs Egg.
