In a time like this where millions of people are out of work struggling to make ends meet, while families worry about having to put food on the table and also have a roof over their heads. Yet this guy has the nerve to say some trash like this when he was offered $1.2 million for the biggest fight of his career. He should GRATEFUL that he is being offered that much.
Another example of boxing prima donnas and greed at its finest.

Lopez deserves around $750k considering his market value, and that is way more than what he made against Commey.
Who does this guy think he is?

Floyd's impact on the boxing world holding true...

Some boxers need to man up. You're paid so much- one of the burdens of your money and fame (not to mention skills) should be to give the fans what they want... And show some courage.

If he doesn't take the fight its clearly a duck.

I'm not saying he's scared, or he doesn't feel he would win, but this is exactly what a duck looks like.

I'd say almost all big fights that don't come off throughout history are due to financial or political reasons and neither of those wash with me.

He has someone looking out for his financial well being, good for him.

I just wanna see the top 2 LW fighters go at it.

The worst thing is that some "fans" take the "but this guy got paid this..." approach, like that's in any way relevant.
He has to be very happy with his guaranteed $1.2M, but he probably doesn't think that's enough to get his O turned into an I.

Its crazy how people are upset at another man because how he conducts his own business affairs. Fighters work just as hard as any suited businessman so they deserve to make any financial decision as they see fit. Common people have slave mentalities where they think that people from poor backgrounds should be appreciative of crumbs. Teo's smart enough to know that he deserves more. In his opinion anyway. Asking for more than 1.2 million isn't ridiculous.

The problem is that he's asking for more money during a terrible and unprecedented time.

You are right it is not ridiculous, it is just a simple duck. Aka a "smart business decision", because Loma would beat his ass.
Teo can go back to fight gatekeepers for $500k.

I'm sorry but how exactly does he warrant even more than what he is worth? Especially considering how he is NOT as big of a draw nor is he close to as popular as Loma. Why would he turn down the biggest purse that he would be receiving during difficult times like this, and why risk NOT getting a bigger purse in the future if he were to actually beat Loma? This is the guy that has been talking all day about KOing Loma easily, wanting to prove a point, and willing to fight with no audience, and yet he is the one to back out of it?

This is it in a nutshell. He and his team knows the writing on the wall. They wanna get as much as they can from an almost certain loss. I won't knock anyone for wanting to earn as much as they possibly can, but I'm sure they know after the loss, they're gonna have to reset, and a once defeated Lopez isn't worth nearly what an undefeated Lopez is worth going into negotiations against some other top guys. The luster would then be off.

If one isn't a draw, they can use their belts as leverage for a larger purse. Thing is, Teo has no such leverage to capitalize with.

Isn't Loma doing the same for wanting a 70% cut? Both guys are trying to get the best deal for themselves.

Lopez is being offered little over a mandatory challenger split. This is a unification fight that will crown an undisputed champion.

He feels he deserves more than 30% for whats at stake. Danny Jacobs commanded more for a two belt unifaction fight when he fought Golovkin.
This is a 4 belt unification fight.

Lopez is being offered close to twice his prior purse. You are only whinging because of what Loma stands to make.

His value increased when he became world champion , now he has something thats worth a lot to Loma. Like when Charles Martin sold his IBF belt to Antony Joshua for $6 million.

It's easy to talk big about how easy a fight would be but when he claims a career high payday during a time when the sports world is tightening its belt due to a worldwide recession isn't enough for him to step up to the plate people can see that he's full of ****.
