Nobody's greater than the Suga Man.

Excuses. He was a little past prime, but only 33 and 5 years after his career best performance. He'd beaten Zivic the year before. As Welterweight Champion his management dodged the best welterweights of his day

Either way no version of Armstrong is going to be competitive with Robinson because he isn't nearly as good a boxer. Neither would he have been competitive with Burley or Holman Williams.

How many times have you seen this fight to be so sure that he never used hook behind his jab or never doubles jab? Are you so certain about that? I can break this fight down if you wish.
So footwork and head movement are not a technique?
I've seen at least a few 1-2s in this fight.
Compare that to stationary, unimpressive Canelo then.
He split the series with Greb and he lost Tunney in his last fight at the age of 34. You are insane...

You have to be next level of old time boxing hater to believe that Canelo is much better fighter than Tommy Gibbons.

I couldn`t see his defensive skills v Dempsey other than a lot of holding.

Because he fought for survival. It wasn't easy to last the distance against Dempsey when you are a LHW.

He didn`t control an opponent with his lead hand.

Gibbons always seemed like a middleweight to me. He had to bulk up to fight above 165ish.

There are more ways to control qn opponent than jabbing to death.

Gibbons shouldn't be rated anything less than top 40 P4P IMO.

Even if Armstrong was at his absolute peak, Robinson significantly bigger. Armstrong was champion at featherweight FFS

Only a hater can attack a natural FW that he ducked someone like Burley, who was a MW for most of his career.
